Why are we (America and Israel) so stupid?

Egypt: Love USD, Hate America, Israel, and the West
Monday, May 1, 2006 / 3 Iyar 5766

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has spent years convincing world leaders of his commitment to peace - and winning millions of dollars in foreign aid from the U.S., says Palestinian Media Watch.

Despite his bonhomie, however, a television series produced by the government-owned and controlled Egyptian Radio and Television Union and shown on the PMW website tells a very different tale of how Egypt really sees its role in history and world politics, and that of the U.S.

“Man in the Era of Globalization” is a popular Egyptian television series that recently finished its second season on Palestinian Authority TV. Video clips from the program are available on the Palestinian Media Watch website. Its name belies its intent, however. The series presents, in a sitcom setting, a dialogue of distortions and outright lies which are calculated to create negative images of the United States, as well as Israel, in the minds of the viewers.

The U.S. is depicted as a leader of imperialist forces in the world, leading the viewer to blame America for the serious problems that plague the Arab world today. Israel is shown as a world-class terror group, with a clever dialogue that has a boy raising the question of whether “the Zionists” were responsible for the attack which destroyed the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, murdering more than 3,000 people in less than an hour’s time. Dialogue response to the question: “It’s not impossible,” says his father, thoughtfully.

Even the Native Americans receive an honorable mention in the series, referred to as America’s first victims.

Other countries in “The West” are not exempt from the hate, and are included with the U.S. and Israel as comprising an empire which can only be overcome – and ultimately destroyed – by years of “resistance," a euphemism for terrorism.

“Do not forget that when the crusades came to the region we resisted for 200 years,” the father reminds his son. “For 200 years there were wars. We too have the ability to resist for many years. We will not become like the Indians, put in cages for the world to watch, as they are doing now in Guantanamo with the remaining al-Qaeda.”

It is ironic the American taxpayers are sending tax dollars to a government which seems bent on their destruction. Egypt is one of the largest beneficiaries of U.S. foreign aid in the world.

According to PMW, the Palestinian Authority has also received large sums of money from the U.S., despite its encouragement of terrorist activities both in the Middle East and across the world. One specific example of this would be the celebrations which took place throughout the PA and the Arab world after the September 11 attack. In the aftermath of that tragedy, PA Arabs danced in the streets and distributed candies and other sweets to each other.

Egypt Prevents Israeli Yachts From Participating in Int'l Regatta
Tuesday, May 2, 2006 / 4 Iyar 5766

(IsraelNN.com) Egypt prevented ten Israeli yachtsman from taking part in an international regatta this past month, despite Israel's peace treaty with the Arab nation – reached at the expense of the Sinai peninsula.

The crew of two yachts from Israel left Tel Aviv as part of the Med-Red Rally, which runs through the Suez Canal to the Egyptian port of Sharm el-Sheikh.

The vessels were stopped in the Suez this week by Egyptian security forces and accused of not having the proper papers. Even if the papers are now obtained, the group will be unable to catch up with the other international vessels to take part in the regatta.

I'm not denying the atrocities here, but doesn't it seem odd that Conquistadors seem to escape the notice of Arab propaganda?

What do you expect?

Egypt is the country that confiscated the property of the local Greeks and forced them to leave. My Nieghbour is originally from Alexandria, his home and property got confiscated by Nasser and he would have been killed had he stayed in Egypt.

Well...they are right about the Native Americans...

About Israel and the US involved in terrorist activity they are right as well.
(of course they too discriminate against natives and they too support terrorism)

Egypt people do not have a good opinion about the US or Israel, that's for sure, and Islamism is very prominent, more than in most other Arab countries I visited, and many people claim they support Al-Quaida. Yet they all watch American movies and wellcome Israeli tourists, and their corrupted, hated and inefficient government is propped up by American dollars. It's part of the general Arab hypocrisy I guess.

There are still Greek or Europeans in Alexandria, but not so much. Many also fled for economic reasons, Egypt's economy is a big problem.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has spent years convincing world leaders of his commitment to peace - and winning millions of dollars in foreign aid from the U.S., says Palestinian Media Watch.

Regardless of what he does or doesn't do, Hosni Mubarak is no longer relevant. The guy is old and his regime is very unstable. his days are basically numbered. Finito, kaput, arivoderci Roma.

Sooner or later the Muslim Brother hood or some other fundamentalists will take over.

His regime is delegitimised and tired, indeed I'm afraid some fundamentalist will take over, unfortunately. It's time right now to remove the hands from Mubarak before it's too late.

Serdar is a turk :)
He does not recognize the armenian genocide.
He thinks 09/11 is the fact of an american plot.
He insults most of the non-turk and non-israeli here.
I think he is not representative of what the other think.

However, the Jews feel they are not so appreciated in Egypt.
We usually have more problems with Syria and Iran.

Israelis don't hate Egypt. But there is a dislike of the hostile attitude towards Israel, and the anti-Israeli propaganda that is coming out of Egypt. Just ask any of the thousands of tourists that go Egypt from Israel, year around, and particularly around major Jewish holidays.

Hmm, indeed, why would Serdar the Turk hate Egypt?

As far as the Israelis are concerned, KettleWhistle is right (as much as it pains me to agree with him on ANYTHING). The Israelis don't hate Egypt, nor do we hate the Egyptians. In fact, Israeli tourists flock into Egypt for holidays in unbelievable numbers (two hundred thousand Israelis spent their vacations in Egypt this year). What we do hate is the Egyptian state's attitude towards Israel and the Jews in general.

You have a point about the administration. The Egyptian people are not necesserily entirely hostile though, most people who've been to Sinai say that the Beduins there are very agreeable and nice hosts. I see nothing wrong with letting them earn some of our money through honest trade.

Besides, if even the warnings about upcoming terrorist attacks can't get the Israelis out of Sinai, I guess nothing ever will.

sir, i were workin' in taba and i live among egyptian since my birth

bedwians form a little percentage among workers in tourism sector in sinai

and they anyway easily can lie to u and show they r fond of israel and israeli people and jews

generally :

they hate u as they hate us as Coptics&Christians despite we r egyptians and the native people of egypt

islam is not just a relegion it's a full identity

a muslim shiekh called Gamal Eldeen Elafhgani (he is from Afghanistan) said one time "the nationality of the muslim is his religion"

it's ur case with muslims anyway

they hate u as they hate us as Coptics&Christians despite we r egyptians and the native people of egypt

what ???
I'm an egyptian muslim and I have alot of christian friends (copts), we love them and they love us as they're all egyptians

it's true that there are some ignorants and they're not more than 0.01% of muslims here not because they're muslims, it's just because they're silly and ignorants

Man, we're all egyptians and whether you're a muslim, christian or jew. I'm sure that your religion tells you to love and respect others.

i was just replayin' to a guy in an coptic forum tellin' him that radical muslims forms at least 97% of the popualtion in egypt

Man, we're all egyptians and whether you're a muslim, christian or jew. I'm sure that your religion tells you to love and respect others

they stole my wallet and Egyptian police wanted money from me.. 3 egyptian guys wanted to beat, they knew that i was Turk and said:

"if you are a Turk, why you have tattoo and earrings"...

Another egyptian cop wanted to trade my sister with a camel...
Another egyptian supports el-qaeda...
My friend died in Egypt bomb blasts.
whatever... it's personal stuff....

Hmm,
Serdar is a turk :)
He does not recognize the armenian genocide.

i'm extremely anti-French (http://www.philsp.com/data/images/g/gay_french_stories_v1_n3.jpg). You'll recognize the ALGERIAN GENOCIDE! And English will be the INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE! Do not work for jerkish french language... Even your Eurovision speaker is talking French in announce. What a spoiled nation is it? Jacques Chirac is protesting meetings because of English speakings...

He does not recognize the armenian genocide.
it's our problem. it's armenian-turkish problem. I'm doing lobby to Turkish Gov. for the take PENALTY CODE off. we've a large community elsewhere includes Armenian-Turkish dudes.

and finally; Why a Turk hates Arab?
in the WW1 Arabs sold lands to the britts and hit to Turks from their back. This is arab faith. But Jews didn't do same. That's why Turks are doing better with Jews than muslim Arabs...

With all my respect but I believe you're the one who's lieing
By the way they're some ignorant copts here too and I'm sorry to say that but you're probably one of them

during all my life I had copt friends, my father had, my muslim friends had
I had alot of them in school, college, life
some of them are my friends, some of them were my teachers, some of them are my doctors

we love them and respect them and I'm pretty sure they feel the same about us

and yes about bombs, since you're in taba you should know that bombs don't differ between a muslim, christian, a jew or whatever and that most of people who die of these stupid actions are muslims

And for serdar, Thieves are everywhere
and about the police, it's a part of the government and our stupid managment and administeration, It doesn't by any mean represent the Egyptian people

for example I know someone who found two lost tourists (a man and his wife) who lost their money and have no place to sleep here in Egypt, He was a muslim and they were christians from a Europe, He allowed them to stay in his house for free, They ate with his family, They slept there for some weeks until they contacted their family and got some money to travel back

Where are the places where you could find such generous people other than Egypt ? :)
