View Full Version : Goals for Israel to win the war
I posted this is another thread, but think it's an important topic to discuss:
As far as I'm concerned Israel will not win the war unless the following conditions are met:
1) Return of Gilad Shalit
2) Total sealing of borders between Israel and Gaza forever
3) Egypt responsible for humanitarian aid, gas, water, etc to Gaza and NATO forces controlling border crossings between Egypt and Gaza.
If these conditions are not met, Israel may as well declare themselves a divine victory as Hezbollah did and call it a night.

I disagree about Shalit.
The kidnapping of an Israeli is a crime in most countries. The lawlessness and depravity of the Palestinian condition is not Israel's problem. While Israel is the victim, the Palestinians must solve this problem themselves. This is a Palestinian humanitarian problem that is on hands of Palestinian leadership, and although it was carried out by hamas, it has in principle the support of all Palestinian factions. Let them use him as a pawn. The Palestinians may not know it, but they are in fact reminding the World of what depraved thugs they really are. That, and the factional murdering and torturing of fellow Palestinians.
If Israel finds a chance to free him or can find disaffected terrorists who help Israel find him, then Ok, Israel should use its might to free him militarily, otherwise, ignore the terrorists attempt to negotiate for his release. In the end, negotiating only encourages these thugs.

Take the list of prisoners that HAMAS wants released, and Execute one a day, until Gilad Shalit is released, or till Israel runs out of prisoners.
That way, the end result is a good one, either way.

A decent idea; should weigh it in with the powers that be in Israel...;)

perfect solution, this is Russian Foreign Policy 101. Crude but 100% efffective... anyone remember what happened to the kidnapped Soviet diplomat in Lebanon 20 years ago: nothing. The assailants' family members ( that is to say their heads) started arriving in the mail. Suddenly the diplomat was freed.
