View Full Version : Worrying Coverage: Gaza Convoy
maven

As British members of the forum will know a convoy of a hundred and ten vehicles containing members of British white anti-Israeli, anti-Zionist left, liberals and many Islamists along with the usual 'useful idiots' -as Uncle Joe Stalin called them, set out to drive from Manchester to Gaza on Friday.
Emblazoned on the side of many of the vehicles is the large but simple message 'Stop Killing Children."
What concerned me was the television news coverage from BBC and SKY, Britain's two major news networks. Instead of even hinting that this was a poltical stunt they gave it all the credit of being an 'aid convoy.'
One BBC corrospondent on the scene in Manchester seemed to be somewhat peeved after anti-terrorism officers stopped the convoy and arrested 9 people, (then released six and charged the other 3) described as 'converts to Islam').
One Pakistani Muslim man told the reporter that the men arrested "were the kindest people you could ever meet who just wanted to help everybody; Muslims Christians and Jews."
This is no aid convoy, it is a Wooden Horse taking the growing British anti-Israel left, liberals and the Islamists who want to replace Israel with "A united, Democratic and Non-Racist Palestine with Justice for Palestinians and Jews" Right into the heart of the Muslim world to incite hatred for Israel on TV stations from Spain (Catholic countries having a high proportion of anti-Semites and a high proportion of the the far Left) to Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt.
This is no mission of mercy it is an anti-Zionist publicity blitz to help unite disparate forces around the world against the State of Israel.
As well as to continue the process first started at the huge 'International Muslim Unity Conference' which is held now every year in the UK and which brings together all the Islamist and leftist movements around the world who's aim is to wipe Israel off the map.
The very fact that BBC and SKY's coverage was not available on YouTube but the propaganda of the convoy was, is a disconcerting trend about how fairness and balance gets thrown to the wind in the new age of readily available media that to some extent leaves the major networks behind.
Very few people now alive can remember the days when small groups of the new Nazi movement wandered the streets making annoyances. They were dismissed as a passing phase.
What we are seeing in the UK is a truly dangerous confluence of the far left, liberals, British converts to Islam and the Islamists along with uncritical, uninvestigative journalism and widespread cultural and intellectual 'politically correct' intimidatuion of anyone who speaks out. Criricise Muslims and you are a racist.
How we tackle this threat is for another post.

And of course, we have airhead Baroness Jenny Tonge, actively encouraging sit-ins in Universities.
There's a video on the online version of the JC where University security men prevented her from visiting the actual sit-in to speak inside the building. Such barriers are the norm - you can't just turn up, uninvited, at a University demonstration to stir things up a little more.
Still, she was able to encourage them to carry on and contact other Universities by chatting to students through the windows.
"Oh it's so important to do this" she twitters on....."can you contact other Universities?" Where's Jenny when the Congo / Darfur / Any other situation - needs support?
Whilst of course, it's so important to keep Wilders mouth shut.

Well....not quite, Mavern.
I believe Charles Kennedy sacked her from her post in the House of Commons because of her comment.
I don't know how she got her peerage - perhaps she's less of a rebel there. Who knows?
Whatever the case, she appears to trot out whenever Gaza is mentioned.

Agreed.:)
I don't dispute the basic argument, Mavern. I was just pointing out that she was sacked - so some public admonishment was made.
If memory serves me well (and I'm up for correction here!) her comments were that after visiting Gaza, she understood why some people feel driven to become suicide bombers. I think she was sacked within hours of the comment reaching the press.
How she got to the Lords, I do not know.

~ Hatred Is Turning Me Into A Jew~
By Nick Cohen.
Extract:
"The more the British Left indulges anti-Semitism, the more kosher I feel
My name is Nick Cohen, and I think I’m turning into a Jew. Despite being called “Cohen”, I’ve never been Jewish before. It’s not simply that I am an atheist. My Jewish friends tell me that it is hard to find an educated London Jew who is not an atheist, but that I have no connection with Jewish culture.
The Jewish side of my family is my father’s (which is not a help, I gather). My great grandparents fled from the Tsarist Empire at the time of the pogroms, but their son, my grandfather, revolted. He became a Communist and married outside the faith. My father was brought up with no connection to Judaism and, inevitably, so was I.
My sole interest in Jewish concerns came from being a left-wing opponent of the far Right, and the blood-soaked antisemitic superstitions which turned Europe into a graveyard. When I was young, such attitudes seemed unproblematic. You did not have to be a Jew to oppose fascism; everyone I knew did that regardless of colour or creed.
Today the old certainties have gone because there are two far-right movements: the white neo-Nazi parties that the Left still opposes; and the clerical fascists of radical Islam which, extraordinarily, the modern Left succours and indulges. I am not only talking about Ken Livingstone, George Galloway and their gruesome accomplices in the intelligentsia. Wider liberal society is almost as complicit. It does not applaud the Islamist far Right, but it will not condemn it either.
From the broadcasters, through the liberal press, the Civil Service, the Metropolitan Police, the bench of bishops and the judiciary, antisemitism is no longer an unthinkable mental deformation. As long as the conspiracy theories of the counter-enlightenment come from ideologues with dark rather than white skins, nominally liberal men and women will not speak out.
Fight back and you become a Jew, whether you are or not. Mark Lawson recently described an argument at the BBC over the corporation’s decision not to screen the charity appeal for Gaza. His furious colleague declared that the only reason Lawson supported the ban was because he was Jewish. Lawson had to tell him that he was, in fact, raised a Catholic.
A furious Labour MP was no different when he told a colleague of mine that I had gone off the rails when I married a “hard-right” Jewish woman from North London. My friend replied that this would be news to my wife, a liberal Catholic from Stoke-on-Trent.
It was kind of him to point that out, but I would no longer protest that I wasn’t Jewish, and I don’t think Lawson should either. It is cowardly to stammer that you are not a Jew because you concede the racist’s main point — that there is something suspect about being Jewish — as you do it.
In any case, my experience of left-wing antisemitism has changed the way I think and made me, if you like, more Jewish.
You do not need me to add that mine is a minority point of view among liberals, and that British Jews are living through a very dangerous period. They are the only ethnic minority whose slaughter official society will excuse. If a mass murderer bombed a mosque or black Pentecostal church, no respectable person would say that the “root cause” of the crime was an understandable repulsion at the deeds of al-Qaeda or a legitimate opposition to mass immigration. Rightly, they would blame the criminal for the crime.
If a synagogue is attacked, I guarantee that within minutes the airwaves will be filled with insinuating voices insisting that the “root cause” of the crime was a rational anger at the behaviour of Israel or the Jewish diaspora.
Put like this, the position of British Jewry sounds grim. Remember, however, that the first aim of radical Islam is to subjugate Muslims. When brave feminists, gays, democrats and liberals in the Muslim world and in Britain’s Muslim communities make a stand, they, too, are accused of being the tools of Zionists.
As the struggle between theocracy and liberalism intensifies, I can see some being pushed into taking the same journey I have taken and finding their views towards Judaism and Israel softening as they realise that antisemitism helps drive the fascistic ideologies of the 21st century just as it drove the Nazism of the 20th.
I will tell them that the opponents of totalitarianism must never be frightened. If their enemies say they are Jews, they should shrug and say: “All right, I am.” As long as readers of the Jewish Chronicle don’t object, of course.
Nick Cohen is a columnist for The Observer. His latest collection of essays, ‘Waiting for the Etonians: Reports from the Sickbed of Liberal England’, is published this week.

I think he has a point about people reviewing their previous thoughts on Israel and the Jews in general.
During the Lebanon situation a few years ago, many of my non-Jewish friends were saying Israel was acting in a disproportionate manner. They seemed very much in tune with Hezbollah.
When Israel invaded Gaza, I was waiting for them to condemn it out of hand (because usually, their actual knowledge of Israel is poor). I was really, really surprised to find out that their views had done a complete about-turn.
My guess is that they are seeing the effects of their previous position erode due to 7/7, the relentless path of political correctness and the country they once knew change beyond recognition. And of course, this continual appeasement.

You can see from this clip what little distance the Far Right has to travel to join them in this neo-Nazi heavy metal band's anti-Semitic video on Israel illustrated by cartoons from a Brazilian leftist anti-Semitic cartoonist Carlos Latuff.
It could just as easily have been made by the left but they would be afraid of being accused of anti-Semitism because they are not as honest as the Neo-Nazis; they prefer to refer to themselves as 'anti-Zionists'.
What is interesting is that all those factions are raiding history to accuse the Israeli's of Nazism, Fascism, Apartheid etc. In other words the cultural restoration of the Jew as the most most hateful human species on Earth who are the secret hand behind all world conflicts:

Oh dear!
Gaza is the jewel in the crown of the armoury. In my view, deliberately kept impoverished and in want to further the jihadist aims.
Why else does the money pumped in appear to have no effect - ever?
Why else does Hamas bulldoze Gazan infrastructure after the Israelis left?
And just how did Arafat buy that Casino, his plane and afford his wife's extravagent shopping sprees?
If only I knew how to make a video:scratch:

The problem that Nick talks about has a larger correlate though. I'm a great believer in the great political pendulum. If there is substantial repression and lack of equilibrium, if you will, in acceptable political opinions- in this case a plain conservative and liberal denouncement of all fascism, what we will see is that once the pendulum hits it's apogee, it will swing with full speed and measure to the radical far right, that will have all the easy and straight forward answers that talk to popular resent and animosity in the street. Now, relevant to us, Jews, this is bad news no matter how you look at it. We're damned if we do, damned if we don't, and damned regardless.
We just have to ignore them and do what we have to do.

Well thats just it, what are we supposed to do. Do we recommend all British Jews make Aliah? Move to NY? Who knows whats right though. It's also terribly hard thing to tell a loyal brit who's family lived in the country for hundreds of years to part company because some (or even most, we don't quite know) don't like them anymore? On the other hand, if they fight the forces that are beginning to oppress them locally in the UK, whats the chances of wining? I don't know, I think when I was younger I'd just say... make Aliah. Now I cant really say that w/o defining some caveats.
I've seen ancient Jewish communities uprooted and then suffer to some extent in Israel, at least initially. My family were academic yidishekite, speaking and writing, now no one really speaks and certainly writes in a language thats been virtually erased in Israel except for the elderly. Is that a decent trade of for corporal existence and safety, yes I would think... but there is also some margin of loss. This is our dilemma generally. But we are Jews, sometimes our dilemmas become opportunities and great successes... so we'll see I guess.

I have an engineer coming tomorrow to instal my new PC which will have a printer attached. I intend to write to Dan Gillerman (former UN ambassador) and Mark Regev (Israel govt spokesman in Washington) to make a pitch to them to find a way to start a worldwide Israeli Newschannel in English and Arabic.
A station which will take on Al Jazeera English, Press TV Iran, the BBC and CNN as well as the Arabic channels. We can create dialogue on our English channel and we can inform the Arabs in Arabic about all the things their own channels will not tell them.
I have heard Israeli journalists complaining for years about the imbalance at the BBC, CNN etc and the propaganda of the two above-mentioned Muslim channels. I believe that Israeli journalists can show them all something.
In a new millenium we must engage in a new war, a war that has bypassed Israel so far: The Information war.
We must fight if not for our own lives then the lives of our children and grandchildren.

"You are old, father William," the young man said,
"And your hair has become very white;
And yet you incessantly stand on your head
Do you think, at your age, it is right?
"In my youth," father William replied to his son,
"I feared it might injure the brain;
But, now that I'm perfectly sure I have none,
Why, I do it again and again."
"You are old," said the youth, "as I mentioned before,
And you have grown most uncommonly fat;
Yet you turned a back-somersault in at the door
Pray what is the reason for that?"
"In my youth," said the sage, as he shook his grey locks,
"I kept all my limbs very supple
By the use of this ointment one shilling a box
Allow me to sell you a couple?"
"You are old," said the youth, "and your jaws are too weak
For anything tougher than suet;
Yet you finished the goose, with the bones and the beak
Pray, how did you manage to do it?"
"In my youth," said his father, "I took to the law,
And argued each case with my wife;
And the muscular strength, which it gave to my jaw,
Has lasted the rest of my life."
"You are old," said the youth, "one would hardly suppose
That your eye was as steady as ever;
Yet you balanced an eel on the end of your nose
What made you so awfully clever?"
"I have answered three questions, and that is enough,"
Said his father. "Don't give yourself airs!
Do you think I can listen all day to such stuff?
Be off, or I'll kick you down stairs!"

I wasn't talking about British Jews, I was talking about all Jews, in general. What should British Jews do? I don't know. If I was faced with so much anti-Semitism I would definitely move to Israel, or maybe Australia. British Jews have lots of options like moving to the US, Israel, etc. It is their decision. I can only imagine it's going to get worse. I don't think Israel will get this English TV station going, although I think they should. Israeli leaders are very stupid, what can we say? I don't think British Jews, or any European Jews, can rely on them at the moment. I saw a talkback today where French Jews were asking where is the Mossad to help them in France where they have lots of problems. Well, I'm sorry to say the Mossad is not coming to help them.

Yes it is worrying for us folk in Britain. And that Yvonne Ridley. Isn't she the Middle Class Journalist who became Moslem after being held hostage by the Taleban? Apparently they treated her with utmost respect and honour, she promised them she would read the Koran upon her release and subsequently converted.

Isn't that lovely; they didn't just behead her like they did Daniel Pearl and a Polish citizen very recently. Pfffttttt....buncha thugs, the Taliban. They wouldn't be holding people hostage if they were people of any kind of worth in this world, in the first place. Pfffftttttt on them all.

He also claimed that the SU was a paradise for Jews, and every single Soviet Jew on here, including me, has contradicted him.
May be he does not really understand what antisemitism is? When 1/3 of people in Europe are actually convinced that Joos run the word - they also mean Takeo....
He also claimed that the SU was a paradise for Jews, and every single Soviet Jew on here, including me, has contradicted him.
Yes, so did I, but it is so much more authentic when someone who actually lives there, like you, tells it like it is. I prefer to correct him when he is wrong, and he often is, about things that go on here in the states. For example, he said what happens at European soccer games, where Ajax opponents shout "Jew to the gas chamber" and carry anti-semitic signs, could happen in the US. How absurd.
May be he does not really understand what antisemitism is?
Or maybe he's lying?

 More evidence that this is not the 'aid convoy' as described by the BBC and SKY News but a military operation:
Galloway: ‘In Monty’s desert footsteps’
MICHAEL SETTLE, UK Political Editor February 14 2009
George Galloway last night suggested he would be travelling in the footsteps of Field Marshall Montgomery, commander of the famous Eighth Army, when today he leads a convoy of 110 vehicles across the North African desert to bring aid to the embattled people of Gaza.
The Respect MP will be at the head of a mile-long caravan, which begins its 5000-mile trek today from Westminster and which will travel through France, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt, crossing into Gaza at Rafah early next month.
It includes a fire engine, 12 ambulances - including one from Stirling - a boat and trucks full of medicines, tools, clothes, blankets and shoe-boxes as well as gifts for children. All told, it amounts to more than £1m in aid. "We will lead the biggest convoy of British vehicles across North Africa since Montgomery," declared the 54-year-old Scottish politician.
However, his use of language brought him in for some criticism from the Conservatives after the London MP declared: "There is an intifada sweeping Britain.
"It is a massive and peaceful movement in support of the beleaguered population of Gaza and Palestine. It is happening everywhere but is especially strong in the north of England and especially among young Muslims."
The current intifada is regarded as the armed struggle by the Palestinians against Israel, which began in 2000 and which is estimated to date to have cost at least 6000 lives, mostly Palestinian.
Last night, Dame Pauline Neville-Jones, the Conservatives' Shadow Security Minister, responded to his remarks by saying: "George Galloway's use of language is irresponsible and dangerously inflammatory."
The Respect leader will be accompanied on his trip by hundreds of British volunteers under the umbrella group Viva Palestina and supported by many Muslim organisations as well as the Stop the War Coalition.
Mr Galloway said the convoy was the "material manifestation" of what he described as the UK intifada. "In barely a month," he said, "it has metamorphosed from an aspiration I threw out at the 100,000 strong pro-Palestine demonstration on January 10 to more than 100 vehicles and nearly 300 people."

As George is so passionate about the cause, perhaps he should consider taking all his worldy goods, donating them to Gaza and staying the hell out of the UK.
I would also suggest he takes with him the wonderful video shot in the Big Brother house. It turned everyone's stomach, and offended Muslim moral sensibilities. With any luck, Sharia law will already have been passed by the time George gets there and he'll be promptly crucified.
Although, anyone with half a functioning brain cell will realise that if George has attached himself to the cause, it's a militant one at best.

I think it's absurd for them to hope and wish that Mossad interfere in their countries internal affairs. If anything that would probably make things worse in most scenarios. If it comes to them asking for such thing, it's probably time to go to the EL AL office and buy some tickets.
