View Full Version : Case Of The Missing Muslims

I finished work early today and deceided to just sit down and watch the live coverage of the G20 Summit protests in the City of London. Now I'm not obsessed with Muslims, I'm like most Brits who want Muslims to integrate into the society, be happy and join the flow of all the other groups; racial and relegious in the UK.
We are constantly being told by our politicians that Islam is peaceful religion and the vast majority of Muslims are good citizens just like everyone else with the same concerns as everyone else. But I have sat here for a few hours and seen a good few thousand individual protestors from numerous angles allied to numerous groups, switching between two seperate newschannels. I have not seen a single recognizable Muslim in all that time! Certainly no headscarves or burqas, beards or kofias (skullcaps).
That is worrying, it begs the question that if younger Muslims are not concerned with the issues younger black and white or far-Asian Britains are concerned with, then exactly how polarized and fragmented is our society between the Muslims and all other groups?
Now one thing the media have mentioned but not shown is that there is a also an anti-war protest outside the US Embassy. Am I being too cynical in supposing that there are numerous Muslims at that location?
Muslims are ever complaining that their percentage of the population has to be represented at least by that percentage in parliament, higher education and elsewhere. But in the case of shared British concerns are they willing to give their percentage of the population to other issues besides hatred of the US, UK and Israel?
Or may be the news does not show it.... CNN did say there are signs for "Free Palestine."

I saw that on CNN. It all looked very civilized and British. Polite people having sandwiches. I only wish I had a hot dog cart there.

It'd better be an 100% organic, free trade hot dog cart with vegan alternatives or they'll tsk tsk you to death.

Every time I come to NY and grab a hot dog off the stand, or a the shishka-bab, I always need to rush to the nearest McDonalds to empty my stomach. Same in Europe... and with all their mad cow thingies....

Since then the other anti-US/Israel protest has arrived from the US embassy to Trafalgar Square and hey presto! Muslims galore carrying Free Palestine and other less salubrious placards.

I went to the England v Israel football match in September 07 and the 'Free Palestine' - or similar - lot were there then. Cordoned off to one side and shouting as people went by.
As far as I could see, no one paid them any positive attention.
I agree, though. Palestine should be free - from Hamas, Fatah, PA, and all the other Arab leaders who keep them as permanent refugees and abuse the minds of their children.
Oh and free from George Galloway, too.:D

I was at the protest and especially at the stop the war. There was alot of Muslims there; and people tend to ignore how diverse the Muslim population is in London.
London, like NY has every race of Muslim and each group have their own goals.
If you go to African Muslims, they tend to not be interested in Israel but rather Darfur and Somalia/Ethiopia etc and likewise if you go into Arab communities they focus on Iraq and Palestine - Asian communities, Pakistan/India.
To generalise or even get a consensus on Muslims in UK is damn near impossible which is why Muslims suck at presenting a united front when condemning.

Where they were not was in the second, larger rally which addressed issues like climate change, the economy, globalisation and third world poverty.
I watched three hours non stop coverage from numerous cameras in numerous locations from two different newschannels and the only Muslims I saw were the ones who moved from protesting outside the US embassy to Trafalgar Square to protest against Operation Iraqi Freedom in support of Al Sadr, the Saddam Fedayeen and the rest of the so-called 'resistance' in Iraq. But they were also openly calling for Israel to have a one-State-solution; a Palestinian state.
As to working out what Muslims think by numbers of communities the largest groups; the Pakistani, Indian and Somalis are overwhelmingly anti-Israel, anti-US and pro-Khalifate. The only difference between them is some are active and others are inactive but most who are politically inclined support the same view as the terorrists, they certainly do not support British or US troops.
The small number of Ethiopians and Zimbawbweans are mostly Christian or like Muslim Darfurie refugees from Al Quaida; anti-Islamist.
Muslim diversity does not apply because the smaller groups like Arabs are so small and the disagreements anyway are almost always inter-cultural not political.

The best meal I've ever had in my life: London, 4 am, I think it was McDonalds- bean sticks (that is to say, baked beans packed and battered and deep fried as a stick) with some curry sauce they threw in. Now thats kinda strange for McDonalds. It was a bad day but great night.
BTW, when is Chicago going to start making decent pizza? That caked up goo, is good for nothin. :D

I was at both games, the one in Tel Aviv and the one at Wembley. In Tel Aviv I couldnt believe what some of the English fans were saying (As I was born in England I also supported England). all positive, how they couldnt believe what a nice country Israel was, how welcoming the people and how nice the woman are!! :p At the game in England, I also saw the protesters. there wasnt many and most were middle class do gooders whose only experience of the conflict is from watching the BBC news. Most ignored them,I am ashamed to say sunk to their level and shouted abuse back. I was drunk!!
Back to original question - the reason that UK Muslims werent protesting is because the money problems dont effect them. their state handouts wont stop!!! when they do the streets will be full of them protesting.
