Well, don't call me any name that comes to mind. :D
But what I mean is that if you reply to me (or to any other member directly), please try to either use the "Reply" button, which automatically inserts the poster's name, or just start your reply with some like
"NewsGuy,
....."
The reason it's a good idea to include the person's name in your reply, is that we have an important feature that lets members know when someone has replied to them.
You can test this feature by clicking on the small icon at the top corner of the screen that has a picture of a small face with an arrow pointing at it. It will produce a page that lists the latest messages that mention you.
It is intended to provide the same kind of functionality like when you log on to AOL and it tells you "You've got Mail!" This way, you can see if there are replies waiting for you.
But it only works for the replies that mention you by name, so that's why it's a good idea to include the person's name to whom you are replying.

On a separate note, if you use the "Reply" button, you can them delete the irrelevant portions of the original post that get quoted, so that your "quote box" doesn't overwhelm your reply.
