Just posted on 'Harry's Place':
"Breaking news: The BBC’s Middle East editor Jeremy Bowen has been found guilty by the BBC Trust’s Editorial Standards Committee (ESC) of breaking BBC guidelines on accuracy and impartiality in his coverage of Israel. (This is the news I mentioned that was due to break tomorrow morning. The announcement has been brought forward.)
This has been a long time coming. Time and time again Bowen has distorted and twisted his coverage of the Middle East. To list all the examples would be a mammoth undertaking."...........
"It is extraordinary to think that the BBC entrusts a man such as Bowen with coverage of such a monumentally important issue. As we saw during Operation Cast Lead, anti-Israel distortion contributes to the atmosphere of hate that leads to violence against Jews on the streets of Britain.
The Zionist Federation said in response to today’s news: “Mr Bowen’s position as Middle East Editor of a public service broadcaster is untenable in the light of the ESC’s findings.”
Too right. For so long this unprofessional egotist has, in my opinion, abused his position to whip up hatred against Israel. He is now officially guilty of breaking guidelines on impartiality and inaccuracy"

I wonder if the BBC will make a statement on the news?
Bowen's reporting medium is generally the BBC TV News - it would therefore be proper to inform the public of his bias via the same medium. As opposed to online blogs and the odd website.
Somehow, I doubt that it will happen.

This guy really is responsible for so much damage to Israel's image and for so much anti-Semitism. In reality, though, he didn't do all this single-handedly.
The BBC's top management was notified repeatedly throughout the years that its Middle East reporting was biased, and no action was taken by BBC. And even on a lower level, his editors and managers should have done something about it and they didn't.
I hope that this is just the tip of the iceberg in exposing and firing all those responsible.
So when will the BBC be promoting him?

I wonder if we'll ever get to see the Balen report?
The BBC have tried to withold this and despite court decisions in favour of its release, continue to spend money fighting to prevent its entry into the public domian.

Never, it's in a special box made from the bones of John Noakes and guarded by cardboard Daleks.

So when will the BBC be promoting him?
Immediately, if not sooner.
Possible new career choices for Bowen:
1. Media advisor for the Ken Livingston reelection campaign.
2. BBC liaison to al Qaeda.
2. Editor-in-chief for the Daily Koz.
Since he will now become a very popular in Britain, he may even choose to leave the BBC. He can either become the White Man face for Al Jazeerah English or maybe replace Richard Cohen, who just recently whitewashed The Islamic Republic of Iran's treatment of Jewish people and minorities, over at the NY Times.

With the recent level of interest in the 'forgotten refugees', he'll at least have a run for his money if he attempts too much whitewashing. Up until now, they have been silent but this constant focus on the Palestinians is starting to wind up the children of the refugees. They're getting a bit more vocal - thank goodness.
I'm even noticing my own husband - son of Egyptian and Syrian refugees - starting to poke his head above the parapet.:p

I wouldn't give you two dead flies for that whole junk website....bunch of real twits on that one.
While the BBC continues with its garbage, the AP is getting worse and worse. Recent headlines have had "Israel kills Palestinian" when (1) the first one was a guy driving a vehicle right at Israeli police in an attempt to commit vehicular homicide, and a terrorist group took responsibility for the attempted attack, and (2) the second one was throwing firebombs at a protest. The headlines, however, have turned the story on its head - making "Israel" seem like its acting as aggressive murderers, not in self-defense. It's a troubling recent backslide.

All of this stuff is really puzzling to me. Muslims shoot rockets, mortars, blow up buses with suicide bombs, and attack with guns, even deliberately killing little kids. Israel attacks in an orderly fashion that tries it's best to minimize civilian casualties and gets chastised in the media......what's the deal with that? Why are there so many forces aligned against Israel that is only trying to live in peace? Doesn't make sense. Something is rotten in there somewhere. Does oil mean that much to the world and since the muslims control so much of it the world jumps to chasten their enemies? I really don't get it.

I think you get it. People dont want the boat rocked, on top of that some people have an issue with Jews breathing, much less self determining their affairs.
I saw Jeremy Bowen on tv this weekend. I can't recall what he was reporting on, but noticed him because he was very popular here when he worked on breakfast TV and I haven't seen him for a long time.
But many UK people are aware of biased reporting. It's not going to surprise anyone.
The recent Hamas situation highlighted the bias issue and raised debate over that. I have heard many people here question why Israel has been so patient with the constant bombardment, although of course people were upset by the casualties arising from that action.
Still there are many who lack objectivity in this area and I notice it particularly in younger people. I wonder what UK education systems are teaching with respect to the Middle East.

Viv,
Those are very good points.
The fact that this anti-Semitic Muslim terrorism apologist is still on the air shows that the BBC is up to its old tricks again.
It also shows how little influence British Jews really have. There's a lot of Arab money flowing throughout the UK, I guess. Enough to legitimize anti-Semitism.
The British Jewish community is very small and there are large parts that are either totally assimilated or ultra-Orthodox anti-Zionists.

I wish I could believe that the BBC will get better, but I'm sorry to say that it won't.
