Sad that Shomronim should not be accepted as Jews on the basis that their original reason for wishing to convert was fear of lions.
You can't hold modern Shomronim responsible for the actions of their ancestors; it's rather like Jews been held responsible for the death of Jesus which is absurd!

And as to intermarriage, surely they are so Jewish already they should be welcomed into marriage. Intermarriage generally may be a problem, but not enough Jews in Israel is also a problem. My only reservation is that they still carry out animal sacrifice which I consider to be barbaric.

Anyway, looks like they still face prejudice.
