It looks like the PA will be given the boot in the US.
Not shedding any tears for Arafat. No, none at all.
:D
But I think it unlikely unfortunately that Arafat will be cut out. The US still has an illusion that there are Arab "allies" out there.
Here's analysis from CBS:
"Cutting ties with Arafat could greatly complicate Bush's fragile war coalition by angering Muslims and driving a wedge between the United States and its Arab allies. It also would make it tougher for U.S. diplomats, dealing with only one party in the dispute, to ease Middle East tensions.
For those reasons, severing ties was the least likely option to be accepted by Bush, said a senior administration official involved in the discussions. The official said Bush's team agrees that action needs to be taken against Arafat, but the advisers are split over how serious the steps should be.
It was unclear whether Bush would make a decision Friday. One source said the action may be postponed, giving Arafat one more chance to avoid punishment."
At least can can still hope for a pleasant surprise.

Quite frankly I don't understand why he's still a leader of the PA or alive for that matter.
There's no question he's a devil with support from the EU. There's seems to be a lot of anti-semetic sentiment in Europe these days and he's cashing in on that.
Neo-natzi skin heads are everywhere in Europe along with their supporters. What is odd is the fact that most of the neo-natzi groups in Europe and the US supports the Muslims. Strange bedfellows to say the least.
Iv'e been closely following the development of this and I have reached the conclusion that Arafat's lies are believed in Europe.
The US is not buying any of his lies anymore and I'm sure that the administaration would like to see Arafat gone.
One however has to admit that the PR work of Israel is lacking. They have been doing better lately but there's still a lot to do.

You're right about the US not buying Arafat's lies. Actually, the EU also knows what is actually going on.
But it's never been a matter of knowing the true facts - It's always been a simple issue of oil dependency.
If not for the oil, then the global problem of Islamic terrorism would be solved, including the Middle East.
You can always count on the EU to side with the Arabs when all is said and done. They would choose any day to see Israel destroyed by the Arabs rather than interfere with their economies.
And the US is also very concerned about what how the Arabs (who openly hate the US culture, democray and freedom) will react to a real war on terrorism that goes to the Arab source of the problem.
That's why despite the lies, the state dept. tries to find more fig leaves to cover up for Arafat's terrorism.

The US is going to end run the oil issue. As we develop new resources look for a big change. The EU are a bunch of wienies. They just talk a lot of idealistic bulls#$% and expect the ret of us to eat it. I think all the hippies must of moved to europe to escape the Regan 80s US. Liberals are idealistic idiots.

The US is going to end run the oil issue for itself, but IS going to reward the Arabs with yet another country. Violence and Terrorism apparantly works. This country will be a permanent Terror base, permanent Espinoge base.
I wouldnt count on the US throwing Arafat down the drain. Weve been there before. He is the "elected?? leader" of the Palistinian People. And we have NO RIGHT? to make that decision for them..blaa blaa blaa. ( US paid and trained the Pal. "Police Force") From what I heard today on the Sunday News/Talk shows--there is some stepping back from the threat-lot of weasily qualifiying word games. They might get rid of him, as Arafat is sick, old, and could shuffle off the buffalo, anyway. That would be the only reason. As we stand today the PA is NOT a Terrorist force. Hmmm.
You could see the PR people from the Arab side out in full force today and will see more and more. A full court PR Press is comming. Whose kid is going to get into the Arab Studies Program in Georgetown? Harvard? {when there were no grades to support the acceptance?} only to switch a year later to another Major? and still remain in those Schools? Whose brother or cousin, or daughter will get a huge job in a business that does business with an Arab owned business? THATS HOW IT WORKS. Thats how a totally illegitimate claim to someone elses thousands of year old country gets recognized. Terror and give out the goodies with a big dose of using old hatreds.
