Two Lebanese soldiers were killed in clashes with Israeli troops along the border on Monday afternoon, according to a Lebanese security official.

Speaking on condition of anonymity under military guidelines, the Lebanese official spoke IDF shelling struck near a military vehicle in the border town of Adaisseh, setting it on fire and killing two soldiers inside the vehicle. At least one soldier was seriously wounded.

4:22 PM Reports that IAF Warplanes have struck at an Lebanese army base.

IDF forces and Lebanese Army and Hizbolla forces are advancing additional forces on the Israel-Lebanese border.

Meanwhile, the IDF spokesman has the following official statement:

Earlier today during the mid-day hours, the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) fired at an IDF position along the Lebanese border in northern Israel. The force was in Israeli territory, carrying out routine maintenance and was pre-coordinated with UNIFIL. The border area is east of the Israeli town Metula. The incident occurred west of the internationally recognized "Blue Line" (the border between Israel and Lebanon) and east of the security fence, thus lying in Israeli territory.

The IDF force immediately returned fire with light arms at a force of the LAF, and the IDF also made use of artillery fire. Several minutes later an Israel Air Force (IAF) helicopter fired at the LAF Battalion Command Center in Al-Taybeh, damaging several LAF armored combat vehicles.

The IDF holds the LAF responsible for the incident that disrupted the calm in the region, and its consequences.

The IDF Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi arrived at the Israeli-Lebanese border, is following the events closely as they unfold, and is constantly holding situation assessment reports with the OC Northern Command, Maj. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, as well as the Galilee Regional Division commander and additional commanders

The Israeli public in the Galilee region to carry on with their routine way of life.

Why aren't people speaking Aramaic in the streets?

Geagea (a true hero of Lebanon), et al, should have implemented a hard core de-arbization program aside from the necessary militia build up. Maronites sat on the fence regarding that, while the rest of the Christian Arabs (and Armenians, and Druse) were too paranoid about being seen something other than Arabs.

Some of the minorities in Lebanon (and more broadly into Syria) used Arabism to get into positions of power- i.e., Alawis taking over the Syrian Ba'ath party. Some Assyrians contributing under Sadam Husain in Iraq, comparably for favors like dhimmies of old. Comparably George Habash with Harakat al-Qawmiyyin al-Arab in our neck of the woods, the precursor to PFLP. George was of [Greek] Orthodox Christian "Arab" background I believe- a Levantine in all but name. Only 2-3 generations before him they spoke Syriac (=Aramaic) in villages like the one he was born.

Political action is fundamentally founded on solidity of roots, on cultural certainty and veracity- roots the marxists and sell out sycophants erase as a matter of course. We have plenty of those in Israel, even on this very forum. Kulturkampf comes first habibi, like it did for us. Win the hearts and minds and then they will never wake up as Arabs.

its amazing how israel attacks the syrian govt forces,(i realise they did it to prevent syrian WMDs from going to hizbollah) and not one word of thanks from the syrian opposition, just goes to show how deep and ingrained muslim hatred is for israel/jews,

you would think if a people are so desperate and feareful they would do anything, right? you want another example of why the so called syrians who are being killed should thanks israel, here one.

Say your a jew living in nazi occupied poland in 1941, you still have some newspapers available to you in the warsaw ghetto, and you hear that for eg. a turkish jet has just bombed a nazi convoy transporting weapons, why you realise the turks didnt do this to help stop the murder of millions of jews , they did it for their own reasons, for eg, to stop nazi advance into turkey.

Now would you thank turkey for attacking a nazi convoy ? HELL YES, if i was a jew living in poland in 1941 i would be thanking anyone who throws a rock at a nazi tank.

The above was all an example of why the slaughtered syrian opposition should be OPENLY in the world media thanking israel for at least doing something thats anti assad, unlike the rest of the modern world who is doing nothing but squabbling in the UN while tens of thousands of syrian civillains are killed.
