Meet Amram Mitzna:
- Mayor of Haifa,
- someone who never even bothered to attend Labour party meetings before running for office,
- hardly even known by the Israeli electorate,
- famous for remarking on Labour's "culture of bullsh!t",
- advocates unilateral "separation" from the Palestinians, i.e., a Lebanon-style IDF route,
- and now... Labour's candidate in the upcoming general elections.
I for one, as a Centerist Likud supporter, am pleased with Mitzna's election.
why?
1. He has no chance of defeating the Likud candidate,
2. As a Leftist, he will split the Meretz vote, thus weakening that party,
3. He will split the Labour voters and drive the Centrists to the Likud, thus strengthening the Likud even more than before.
