Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan may be about to find out just how true the verse cited in this post's title is. And Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin - pictured with Erdogan - may also suffer the consequences.

Writing in Asia Times, retired Indian diplomat M K Bhadrakumar makes a convincing case that Israel has succeeded in turning the tables on Turkey (http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/MH27Ak05.html) - partly by establishing relations with Greece and Cyprus, and partly through its longstanding relations with the Iraqi Kurds.

Strange how it seems that every nation or organisation against Israel is falling on hard times. It must be another Jewish conspiracy, hehe.

This may cause a big polarization between east and west. Pushing Russia on losing side is waking up a sleeping giant. There is nothing to be happy about it and many countries including Israel may suffer. This is a big mistake.

Turkey is struggling with what it wants to be when it grows up. It wants to be a big fish in a mid sized pond. And you can't discount the fact that the Islamist inspired AKP doesn't behave entirely rationally. They don't play a completely strategic games based on advantage and influence. It's based in part on an apocalyptic millenarian world view. I believe anything that Israel can do to de-stabilize Turkey is a good thing. Anything they can to cause Turkey to worry about one more thing they perceive is threatening them is a good approach. Turkey will tend to perceive those threats as larger than they really are. If they believe there are enemies everywhere, that can work to Israel's advantage.
