TAF naval and F-16 radars are now permitted to designate IAF planes as 'foe' allowing them to be fired upon.

First off this doesn't just happen in a day. This has been in the development stages for quite some time. Secondly, someone in the US needs to check their ITAR regulations to determine if F-16's can be legally modified to do this. The other issue is that the F-35 program would require MAJOR changes to technically permit this. The work would most likely have to be done in the US by US firms. Which would immediately cause every other Tier 1 and 2 partner to start screaming for their own updates. Either this could kill the F-35 program or it could kick a Tier1 or Tier 2 prime national contractor out of the program which itself is of questionable legality. Last but not least look for Turkey to 'accidentally' fire on an IAF plane and then claim either it was a software bug or something the Israelis did.
