Sharon announces new Israeli buffer zones
From CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/meast/02/21/mideast/index.html)
JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said Thursday that Israel would create new buffer zones along its borders. The announcement came as Israel launched attacks against Palestinian targets,
"In order to increase the security of Israeli subjects, we have decided to set up buffer zones in order to achieve security … and to set up obstacles along the border zones," Sharon said during a televised speech. "We all want peace we all are committed to peace."
When pressed by reporters, Sharon provided few details of the buffer zones.
Just prior to Sharon's address to the nation, Israeli forces launched strikes in Gaza against Palestinian targets in Rafah and Gaza City, the Israel Defense Forces said.
. . .
The offensive comes in response to what Israeli officials are now calling a "guerrilla war" against Israel by the Palestinians. A surge of Palestinian attacks that began with the suicide bombing of a West Bank pizzeria Saturday culminated Tuesday with an ambush at a military checkpoint that left six Israeli soldiers dead.

It's beginning to look a lot like unilateral separation. Maybe the beginnings of a future international border.
The Arabs all seem to hate this plan, which only means that it is a good one for Israel. :)
The funny thing is that if the Arabs would have negotiated peacefully, I am certain that some of the Jewish settlements would have been dismantled and the Arabs would have gotten ownership of the land.
But in this unilateral separation forced on Israel by the Palestinians terrorism, the Israeli government announced that no settlements will be dismantled to build these buffer zones.
This means a lot less land for the Arabs and more for Israel.
I really hope that this plan will bring about a de facto reality that will result in more land remaining in Israel when all is said and done.

Hopefully it will be soon when all of Israel is returned.:) More than that Hopefully not much longer when the lawless learn their lesson and there will finally be peace for Israel... Peace for the world.

One thing I never understood that is now coming up again.
Since the Palestinians hate Israelis so much and want to ethnically cleanse the Jews either from half of Israel or from all of Israel, why are they all of a sudden so opposed to the buffer zones and separation from Israel?
I've actually seen news that arch-terrorist Arafat was outraged that Sharon was talking about a plan of physical separation from the Palestinians.
I don't get it, why everyone that hates everyone else doesn't jump for joy at this opportunity for separation.

arafart must think that separation makes it harder for him to exterminate israel, so he objects vigorously to the plan.

I think its always been their plan to grab a state for themselves... and still have the "liberty" to run amok thoughout Israel.... isn't that their right? No one has ever stopped them before, why would having a split up state at both ends of Israel, get in the way of their favorite passtime?????

Hi Flame. How's it going?
Looks like even if the Palestinians get the West bank and Gaza, they are already flexing their terrorism muscle in Jordan, the first Palestinian state, by setting off a car bomb just today near a Jordanian minister's home.
This is a message of what's coming shortly, when the Palestinians' officially take over Jordan as well as parts of Israel.

Hi News Guy! I"m surprised but not surprised.... after all, I've been wondering if Jordan would be included in the liberation of Palestine... just surprised they would bite a hand that feeds them... since its their own. Maybe their stupidity will in fact be their undoing for all the world to see how easily they have been led to be duped... just in spite of hating Jews and Israel.
Let them take on Jordan! Let the fun begin! The only state those beasts deserve is on a spaceshuttle to the moon. And those asses at Xray on that hunger strike... good! Danny Pearl died for them.... let them starve if they want to , its their choice.... which is more than what they gave Danny.

LOL!
But how do you really feel about it?
:D
Seriously , though, a few days ago I happened to drive by Birmingham High School in Sherman Oaks, CA, where Danny Pearl went to school. There was an electronic scoreboard by the edge of the football field lit up in memory of Danny Pearl, class of '81.
Made it even more real.

goyim chick missinaries. LOL!
Flame, you are pretty funny.
But yes, I think that people in the US would have reacted differently if it were the missionaries beheaded on video. I think there would have been vigils and memorial services. Maybe even Elton John would have put on one of his pink outfits and done a special song for them. Who knows.
But I also wonder about how wise it was for Daniel Pearl to go to a terrorist-ridden third-world Islamic cesspool and try to track down inside information on a suicide bomber. Especially with a wife and kid depending on him. I understand wanting to get an exclusive for the Wall Street Journal, but he knew the risks involved, and no story is worth the high risk that he took, IMHO.

From watching Daniel Pearl's wife on the video before his death was reported, I almost got the impression that at least she (and perhaps he) had the opinion that all the parties could open dialogue and all would go well. Of course at the time she was speaking to the camera and to the kidnappers, so who knows what she was thinking.
Would it be possible for a 38-year-old reporter in Asia and the Middle East to be naive? Could he be taken in by the natural courtesy of his "hosts" up to the critical moment?

About as wise as a German tourist strolling down the back alleys of Harlem at 2am wearing a big shiny gold necklace and carrying a brand new Gucci bag.
