Rumsfeld clearly said that Syrian's help for iraq was an ''act of hostility'' does this mean the U.S will also open up a front with Syria and will it go for Iran after Iraq? What do you all think?

No. I don't believe so. I believe what the Secretary meant to do was send a message to certain countries that any persons deemed combatants, or any material identified for use by the Iraqi military that enters Iraq, whether from Syria, Iran, or from any country, will be a legitimate target.
As to opening yet another front and pounding Syria, well.... that seems a bit premature.
In that we're only 10 days into this current conflict and we still have an indeterminate amount of time before this objective is attained, it would seem prudent to complete one task, before embarking on another, wouldn't you think?

Well, Iran should be the next target. Then the troops can be moved from Afghanistan directly to the Syria front. Once you get all the Middle East, you have 4 more armies per turn. You can then turn to the Korean front with a better chance of success, once you have all of Asia you get 7 more armies per turn. That should be enough to handle Europe. Especially if you change your cards.
The world is definitely a fun map to play with :)

No... not Iran next. I was thinking more of Singapore. That's a nice clean country and a much closer platform. We'll bring our gum with us....

I like the idea of a Syrian Sequel, and let's take it all the way to Beiruit so our Marines can close their account.

A number of countries could get added to the laundry list of those airing their dirty underwear in public. Specifically, those countries excreting the Islamic Jihad; the ones going to Baghdad.
"I wonder if they realize what a 30mm chain gun can do to a moped, inshallah?", Johnny mused.....
But wait a sec....... aren't there a lot of Europeans on these forums arguing that Saddam Hussein's regime had no ties with terrorists????? Yes there are........

Syrians arrive in Mosul to fight for Iraq: Al Jazeera
In the first confirmation of Iraqi claims that Arab volunteers were entering the country to fight coalition troops, an unknown number of Syrians have arrived in the northern city of Mosul, Al Jazeera television has reported.
The station said from the city that they had crossed into Iraq by unknown routes but without passing through established border posts.
It showed pictures of them brandishing weapons and portraits of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
"Come to the land of the Arabs in Iraq and fight for Islam with your souls," one of them shouted.
"You talk of missiles, tanks and bombs but it is our faith which will challenge the unbelievers." .. .
Here's a map where you can see Iraq and neighboring countries (sorry it's not the clearest - another URL would be welcome):

It's very convenient that Syria, Iraq, and Iran are all contiguous.

I think Syria will back down and cool its heels. They have everything to loose and nothing to gain. Saudi Arabia is already almost totally irrelevant to us in a military way. We basically don’t need their air bases any longer.
Iran and Turkey are neutralized too until they also wish to commit suicide. One by force and the other economically. In fact once we execute a decisive victory in Iraq it is ‘checkmate’ in the Middle East. We will own it. The Arabs may well jump up and down and make lots of noise but they won’t be able to anything else.
With 300,000 US troops inside Iraq and control of multiple air bases the Arabs will see the handwriting on the wall. Maybe they do already.
Invading Iraq (for whatever reason) was brilliant. The Middle East may start to calm down soon or commit suicide. THANK YOU SADDAM for the opportunity.

I personally think "palestine" or the "WB" should be the next target, i think instead of attacking Syria or Iran or whatever, they should just let israel expel the pals to you know where.
Even when saddam is gone, the pals will find new terrorist buddies, to get US$25,000 from if they blow themselves up. It just proves the US isnt doing this iraq thing for israels sake, if they did, the US would allow israel to expel the pals, which i dont think they arnt, since their taking about giving the animals a state in 2 yrs time.

Hey, if these guys are so hellbent on becoming martyrs, shouldn't we accomodate them with an express line. They can simply show up at the checkpoint, declare their intentions and line up against the nearest wall where we can have a Kurd militiaman or repatriated Iraqi serve his country. Fast and efficient.
