After finally making some headway in destroying the palestinian terrorist infrastructure, Israel has been strong-armed by the US out of the Palestinian terrorist bases.

In a typical forshadowing of the future, Palestinians shot 2 Kassam missiles into Israeli population centers at the same time that Israeli tanks were pulling out of the Palestinian terrorism camps.

This is what we can expect to see in the future from deal with the Palestinians where Israel hands over more land to Palestinian control.

I dont' know. Is the U.S. simply strong arming Israel to withdraw, or is the U.S. helping to expose the fact that the PA is a terrorist entity that is not interested in peace with Israel?

It is, after all, a very delicate situation. You have Hezbollah in southern Lebanon with 8,000 rockets aimed at Israel. And Hamas and Islamic Jihad operating in the West Bank and Gaza. All are classified as terrorist groups by the US, as is the Al Aqsa Brigades.

I think the US is (a) buying time to prepare to launch the next phase and (b) trying to round up enough cooperation if not support to finish off Saddam Hussein.

There is nothing the militant Islamic Nazis would like to see better than a sudden, all-out regional conflict. The worst outcome for them is if the US picks off the terrorist groups and states one by one.

I would like to think so, but the PA has already been exposed as a terrorist entity that is very dangerous to US interests in the Middle East.

Nonetheless, I think that the main focus of the US is just to get out from under the shame Bush Junior must feel that Saddam outlasted Bush Senior. And to this end, Israel's security is being brushed aside to appease the Arabs so they will not protest too much against US action against Iraq.

I mean, what danger does Iraq actually pose to the US?

On the other hand, the Hizbullah with its thousands of missiles pointed at Israel is fully capable of igniting a full-scale war at a moment's notice. Yet the US is not, so far, planning on hitting them, nor is there any plan so far to hit Syria or Iran, which is the center of worldwide Islamic terrorism.

The only country in the Mideast at this very moment who the US is exterting harmful pressure on is, unfortunately its only true ally in the region -- Israel.

All I can say is that I sure hope that there is a secret plan, not known to the public that will result in the removal of the Arab threat to Israel and to US interests.

Such a tangled web this situation. Hard to say how the US feels... the state dept is a closed little circle of friends and familes that go way back and are anti-semetic.... then you have Powell who is one of those saudi princes' best friend.

Other problem for Jews in general is we have been in the US for so long, with the mostpersonal security than any time or place in history, we have been on the defense for centuries, as well as having to take extra time just to survive... haven't had time to come up for air and put an end to all this.... Look how well organized the arab americans are... if we were this organized, we wouldn't keep getting pushed around.
