i wanna know...
why is israel restricting arafat's movements? that's something i don't get...
i can't see how it does anything but make arabs and the rest of the world angry...
i know the guy's a terrorist... and everything he says is a lie...
but restricting his movements... it's not so horrible to him that it could be a deterrence...
it's just a symbol or something... but it's making the arabs angry and it really doesn't help world opinion on israel...

furthermore, why in the heck would they wanna prevent him from going to the arab summit, where they could discuss the saudi proposal?!?
it's a long shot that something could be worked out which would satisfy both the arabs and israelis...
but why would israel want to turn the mood of the meeting from a possible peaceful tone towards israel, to an undoubtably israel-bashing, israel-villification, oppressing the palestinians, oppressing arafat...

i don't get this at all.

I personally think that it's perhaps not even enough JUST to restric his movements. He should be glad he's out and about free and not in prison, let alone still alive. Arafat the Rat is just as dispicable a terrorist as Osama.

Q: Do you think the US would just 'restrict' Osama's movements?

Simple.

Arafat, the mass murderer, is in a sort of jail, like all serial killers should be. In the meantime, he is still able to order the daily slaughter of even more Israelis.

Under these circumstances, letting him go to appear as some respected head of state would be a sure sign that Israel and the world are rewarding terrorism.

That's not a message that Israel can afford to put out.

The fact that the Arabs don't like punishing terrorists is just too bad, and should certainly not be a deterrent to Israel from taking normal measures against arch-terrorist Arafat.

Add to that the fact that again Arafat has destroyed Zinni's peace initiative with ongoing terrorism and that the Saudi proposal is a complete joke, and you have the clear picture of why Arafat must stay under house arrest in Ramallah.

If I was to ask "why???" about something, it would be why anyone would reward Arafat by letting him live at all, much less travel to an official meeting of fellow terrorists.

Israel should let him out and not let him back in again.

It's harder to be a martyr in a French hotel.
