Bush Says "Use Of U.S. Strength" Doesn't Cause Terrorism; Powell Says Use Of Israeli Strength Does Cause Terrorism

...
Speaking on the ABC News program "This Week" on September 7, 2003, Secretary Powell, who supports American assassinations of Bin Laden terror leaders and aides to Saddam Hussein, condemned Israeli assassinations of Hamas terrorist leaders who have murdered hundreds of Israelis and Americans. He said: "To kill one Hamas leader, but wound 9 children or 10 children in the course of this, who will grow up to become Hamas leaders or Hamas killers later, they have to consider the long-term consequences of this policy."

Powell's statement directly contravenes President Bush's national address on the same day, in which he said: "We have learned that terrorist attacks are not caused by the use of strength. They are invited by the perception of weakness. And the surest way to avoid attacks on our own people is to engage the enemy where he lives and plans."

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said:
"President Bush says terrorism is not caused by the use of American strength; Secretary Powell says terrorism is caused by the use of Israeli strength. President Bush says America must fight the terrorists 'where they live'; Secretary Powell says that Israel must not fight terrorists where they live. These contradictions indicate that the Bush administration has a disturbing double standard when it comes to Israel's fight against terror.

"It is appalling that Secretary Powell is saying Israel's actions cause Palestinian Arab children to grow up to be Hamas terrorists. Arab children grow up to be terrorists because the Palestinian Authority's school system teaches them hatred of Jews and glorification of violence--a school system that Secretary Powell has never demanded be changed. If Secretary Powell wants to prevent Palestinian Arab children from being raised as killers, he should suspend the Bush administration's $215-million in annual aid to the Palestinian Arabs until the change their schools. America does not refrain from killing Bin Laden leaders for fear that children nearby might be wounded and then grow up to be terrorists. America does not refrain from killing aides to Saddam Hussein because children nearby might be wounded might grow up to be Saddam Hussein supporters. Likewise, Israel should not refrain from killing Hamas mass murderers."

Yet another letter to f**** SD. Anyone listening over there?

Despite bungling the first war on Iraq by leaving Saddam Hussein and the Baath party intact, Colin Powell was appointed by President Bush as an attempt to win over African American voters.

The State Department has always been pro-Arab, with many of its officials paid off by the Saudis and Gulf States after their retirement. This is done through the Saudis inviting the former State Dept officials to be *very* highly paid speakers at various Saudi dinners.

So, it's understood in the State Dept, that the more anti-Israel and pro-Arab terrorist one is, the more they can be assured of a cushy retirement, courtesy of the Wahhabi Saudi government.

I am sure that Colin Powell is no exception.

Powell is a complete hypocrite, no doubt about it, as is most of the US State Dept.

Israel should tell Powell to stick it where the sun don't shine, and do what is in it's own interests.

Powell’s statements were ‘matters of fact’ not dictates of Israeli policy, unless and until both Israel and world politicians openly deal with Islamic inspired terrorism, terrorism will continue unabated.

No, the expulsion of Arafat is not helpful to achieving the “Roadmap” - so what? Is the “Roadmap” still achievable in Israel’s eyes? Yes, the expulsion of Arafat will inspire worldwide rage - so what? Let other nations deal with the problems of Muslim rage upon their own soil, it is a problem they have to deal with at any rate.

“Public opinion” will never save the lives of its people, nor will it halt the actions of terrorists - indeed the west’s “public” is Islam’s target of choice. If Israeli’s feel diplomacy is an achievable process then they must continue working to pursue that objective, if they feel only a military solution is viable, then they must openly state and pursue that course.

What grabs my onions is no matter that is in the Oval Office, the US State Department can and does throw screws into the machinery all the time. I have heard it said, or argued often, if the President lets the SD run roughshod, they will screw up the works.
Regarding Powell, what else can be said that already hasn’t? When asked about Israel and her right to defend herself, his replies are always smug and smarmy, not unlike a snake oil salesman‘s!

If you get me elected in 04’ the focus of my tenure will be new ’Crusades’ with both Islam and to remove the very concept of ’political correctness’ from the elected snakeoil salespeople. ;)

In all seriousness, I personally look more to what ‘administrative’ official statements don’t contain with regard to an Israel position, or action, than the hallow words that are recited ad nauseum. And, to be quite honest, why the jihadists or his own groups haven’t taken Arafat out and blamed the Israeli’s for the publicity and emotional value in venue is astounding in itself.

But unless the Israeli’s know differently, or I heard or read, “Don’t you dare Touch or harm Arafat” I’d take it as tacit approval and move on. What the hell is the world catering to the sanctity or wishes of Islam for in the first place? They’ve been holding the world and especially Israel hostage for ages and as their economies worsen the threats become louder and greater. Where’s their contribution to world peace, human rights, freedom, with advancing, developing economies and infrastructures for their own people?
