The carnage continues
Another terrible mass murder in Israel; 20 dead and 45 injured in a restaurant bombing in Haifa. While these atrocities are perpetrated by Arabs, the West --particularly Europe --- itself has some of this blood on its hands. For the past 40 years, it has encouraged terror by responding to every outrage with promises to address the grievances that are its 'root causes'.
Now, even worse, Europe funds, lionises and supports a Palestinian cause which is fuelled by demented, homicidal Jew-hatred. In America, despite the war on terror, President Bush -- egged on by Tony Blair and the State Department -- launched the road map to annihilation, which promises the Palestinians a state as a reward for terror.
Every breach of that wretched document by the Palestinians has been ignored. The very premise on which it was launched, that Arafat would be sidelined by a proper statesman, was proved false from day one, as Arafat asserted and then consolidated his grip. Yet Bush brushed this aside, in the deluded belief that if only the Palestinians were given their state, a major source of the poison in the Middle East would dissipate.
Wrong, wrong wrong; it's the other way round. The Israel/Palestinian impasse will not be broken unless and until the sponsors of Jew-hating, America-hating, western secular democracy-hating terror in Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia are dealt with. The Palestinians could have had a state when it was offered to the Arabs in 1948; they could have had it any time between 1948 and 1967, when the West Bank was illegally occupied by Jordan and Gaza by Egypt; they could have it after 1967 when Israel offered the conquered territories to the Arabs in return for peace, which was refused; and they could have had it in 2000, when almost all the land was offered again at Taba, and to which the response was the past three years of mass murder by the Palestinians.
The Bush road map and the Europeans' approach constitute a strategy that is not merely mistaken. It has the catastrophic effect of encouraging yet more terror. This will only be addressed if Bush, Blair and European leaders finally tell the Palestinians that the game is up and that they will get no more money or support unless they stop both terror and its incitement.
But instead, victim and victimiser in the Middle East have been stood on their heads. Israel -- whose settlement policy is wrong and morally corrupting, but that is not the fundamental issue here -- has instead been demonised and dehumanised, and blamed for trying to prevent its citizens from being murdered, a defence which is represented as aggression; while the Palestinians' deliberate targeting of the innocents is said to be legitimate or understandable self-defence. It is this denial of truth, logic and history, this grotesque moral inversion, which is driving the violence in the Middle East --which, like all such terrorism, seeks to achieve precisely this kind of reversal in public opinion, in which the Europeans and Americans between them are so hideously complicit.

I posted the following at Melanie's blog:
A good essay, Melanie, but you have been hoodwinked by the Arab propagandists regarding the settlements.
For example, the Jewish "settlement" in Hebron simply reestablished the Jewish community that existed in Hebron for ages and was massacred and driven out by an Arab mob in 1929.
If there is ever going to be peace between Israel and her neighbors, it certainly won't be in the context of Arab countries that are carefully kept Jew-free while there are one million Israeli Arabs and calls for Israel to let in hundreds of thousands more. The sad truth is that the Arabs are the most racist people on earth. The highway sign in Saudi Arabia with one lane marked "Muslims" and another marked "Non-Muslims" is just one of many examples. Arab slave traders in North Africa is another, as were leaflets distributed by Arabs at the UN's infamous "Conference Against Racism" in Durban, SA.
Finally, remember that most of the Arabs don't recognize Israel. For them, Tel Aviv is a "settlement." But the fact is that no Arab government seriously entertained making peace with Israel until Israel began building settlements.
To wit, the Arabs need to be reminded that their aggression has its costs. If they lose land in the process of jihad, they just might never get it back.

Meanwhile, Israel responded to the latest Palestinian mass murder attack by firing missiles at a home they knew to be empty.

I heard the news this am on the radio, then I tuned in to BBC's coverage.
The reporter showed the scenes of the carnage and announced the number of israelis dead and wounded.
Then she said "For balance we should tell you that a palestinian youth was killed today in gaza by Israeli troops."
Balance?? Did the israelis go there to murder a palestinian civilian?Did she give the details?
Was the palestinian a terror suspect?
Did he attack the soldiers?
She didn't say.She just wanted to give the story some "balance".
This is journalism??
Sick is what it is.

Like there is any comparison at all? What a stupid thing to say.
I am not surprised though.

Special Report: Carnage Again
It was a sunny Saturday afternoon in the Israeli port city of Haifa on the
Jewish Sabbath before Yom Kippur when evil struck again. In a split
second, a crazed female jihadist exploded her deadly cargo and 20 people
died instantly, while dozens more were gravely wounded. The site of the
blast was a popular restaurant, Maxim's, jointly owned by Israeli Arab
Christians and Jews. Three generations of one family were destroyed as
they sat at their table breaking bread. At least five Israeli children
were among the dead.
Later that day, I received a phone call at home from a prominent American-
born Israeli, who was beside himself with grief and anger. He was angry at
the jihadists who continue to break all the rules of civilization in their
obsession to kill Jews. And he was angry at the U.S. government that
continues to browbeat Israel into restraining itself. "Israelis love
America," he said. "We don't want to irritate or anger the White House.
But what are we supposed to do?"
Coincidentally, on Saturday morning the Washington Post featured Colin
Powell on the front page making it clear in an interview that the U.S. was
looking for ways to punish Israel because plans for the security fence were
going forward. This follows our warnings to Israel last week to not touch
a hair on the head of chief terrorist Yasser Arafat. This morning several
papers are reporting that the President called Prime Minister Sharon to
express condolences, but also urged him not to further heighten tensions.
I pray those reports are inaccurate. Instead of telling our friend and
ally to hold back while fresh graves are being dug for their children, we
should be telling them that we now realize the folly of asking them to do
what we would never do - bargain with terrorists in the vain hope it will
bring peace.
Late last night, the media had managed to track down the family of the
homicidal bomber. What that family said should be a slap in the face of
reality to every State Department bureaucrat. There was no grief expressed
- only joy. "This is a day as happy as her day of marriage would have
been," said one man. Get it? Killing Jews was the greatest accomplishment
of her life. It was a joyous occasion to be compared to marriage! It was
the fulfillment of her jihad Islamic responsibilities.
Does anyone in the U.S. government know whether this incredibly warped evil
mindset is embraced by a thousand, ten thousand, or a million Palestinians?
Polling shows it is a worldview broadly embraced in the West Bank. So
where are "road maps" to peace supposed to end anywhere else but in hell if
these are the inhabitants of the Palestinian state that is supposed to live
side-by-side in peace with Israel?
Syria ran to the United Nations yesterday to get a resolution to condemn
the Israeli response, a 3:00 AM attack on an empty terrorist camp in Syria
that resulted in two people being wounded. In a functioning U.N., Syria -
with blood dripping from its hands - would have been run out of the chamber
by the civilized world. The U.S. threatened to veto any resolution that
condemned Israel unless it also condemned homicide bombers. Every member
of the Security Council passionately condemned the air strike - the same
countries that shrugged 24 hours before when the bodies of broken families
were being removed from the restaurant.
There will be no peace for Israel or for America or for any of the
civilized world until this jihadism is defeated. It can't be bribed,
reasoned with or controlled by diplomatic maneuverings. It must be rooted
out and destroyed, just as Nazism was after a long struggle at great cost.
Our enemies are betting that neither America nor Israel will have the
staying power to do what has to be done. G-d help us if they are right.

Note that this latest suicide bomber was a 29-year-old attorney. She was not underprivileged in the slightest. I suppose it's possible she chose suicide bombing over an honor killing, since other Arab women have done that, but that is just speculation on my part.

I don’t think there’s anything that I could say to the victim’s families that would ease their pain. I could say that I’m sorry and all that but it really doesn’t change the fact that their loved ones are gone or have suffered injuries that they will bear forever. I give money to an organization that supports the victims of Islamic madmen but I know that all the money in the world cant compensate for the way these people must feel.
The past cant be changed it’s etched in stone but the future always brings hope for changes. At one point Bush seemed determined to eradicate terrorism but he seems to have lost that drive. Islamic fundamentalism is spreading its tentacles and the day will come when murder and mayhem will be at everyone’s footsteps.
Currently the FBI is investigating the rise of radical Islam in the US, but of course it can’t be eliminated by investigations.

FBI investigates spread of radical Islam in U.S.

WASHINGTON - On Aug. 20, 2001, Saleh Ibn Abdul Rahman Hussayen, a man who would soon be named a minister of the Saudi government and put in charge of its two holy mosques, arrived in the United States to meet with some of this country's most influential fundamentalist Sunni Muslim leaders.
His journey here was to include meetings and contacts with officials of several Saudi-sponsored charities that have since been accused of links to terrorist groups, including the Illinois-based Global Relief Foundation, which U.S. authorities shut down last year.
He met with the creators of Islamic Web sites that U.S. authorities contend promote the views of radical Saudi clerics tied to Osama bin Laden. And among the imams on his travel schedule was a leader of a small religious center tucked into a nondescript suburban Virginia office building, the same site used for a time by the spiritual leader of a group of area men indicted in June as suspected jihadists

I believe in fighting fire with fire, hard against hard! The Israeli government will not be able to stop terrorism (I doubt any western style government can); making the enemy feel the same fear that the Israeli feel would stop it.
My friend came by the other day; her boyfriend had screwed up her computer (unintentionally) and she wanted me to fix it. I have a sign on my gate that says “BEWARE OF DOGâ€, she laughed and said “I think they had better fear the owner more than the dog.
Palestinians aren’t afraid of the Israeli Jews they see them, as easy targets that they can kill or attempt to kill at will. It doesn’t matter if they kill a 1,000 or a 100,000 Jews the Israeli government is always ready for peace. A recent poll indicates that 56.3 % of the Palestinians support terrorism and I say let them have it.
There are indications that radical terrorist organizations are merging, time is short and there’s much killing to be done.
Radical Islamic organizations announce merger with al-Qaida
Moshe Marzuk
ICT Researcher
Yemenite sources reported that five radical Islamic groups have declared that they are joining the new al-Qaida organization (al-Qaidat al-Jihad), and threatened to carry out terror acts against Western targets. [1] The groups called on Yemenite citizens to avoid Christian and Western targets.
The sources also reported that the structure of the al-Qaida organization in Yemen has been modified, and that Al-Qandahari al-Yemeni has been appointed the group’s commander. The new global al-Qaida network now includes the following organizations: al-Qaida, the Egyptian Jihad, the Yemen Jihad, the Aden-Abyan Army, the Saudi Ahfad Alsahaba and the Algerian al-Jama’a al-Salafiya al-Daawa.
Algeryan sources confirm that the Algerian al-Jama’a al-Salafiya al-Daawa, led by Hasan Hattab has joined the new al-Qaida organization.[2]
Other sources reported that Abu Hazem Elsha’er (Haled Ali Ali Haj) was appointed as the al-Qaida commander in the Persian Gulf, replacing Abed Elrahman Elnashiri who was arrested.[3] Elsha’er once served as Osama ben Laden’s bodyguard.
This development confirms previous information regarding recent difficulties faced by al-Qaida; the announcement of the merger and the appointment of new local commanders can be seen as an attempt to shore up an organization hard-hit by the global campaign against terror.

A few responses from freerepublic.com authors can be found by doing a search there
When is Israel going to start carpet bombing the Palistinian West Bank squalor and put a permanent end to these cowards and their genetic mistakes.
This lends credibility to the argument that the ENTIRE family of a suicide bomber should be executed.
Like in some Asian countries? "Kill three generations, and the only family left will either be too old to do anything or too young to remember."
They should have adopted my plan for "knocking down" the bombers' homes with 2000-lb. bombs. That way the family, friends, neighbors, etc., are all "collateral damage."
Until Israel learns the "math" of terrorism, peace will not be possible.
Israel: you kill 20 of us.....we kill one or two of you.
I'm sorry, it doesn't work that way.
You kill 20 of us.....we kill 2,000 of you.
Peace will come quickly when Israel gets serious.
I'm trying very hard to control my rage. If I said what I really feel, I'd surely be banned.
Israel should give the Pallies their own country. Maybe one square mile. Then build a 30 foot fence around it. Anyone sticks their head out, shoot to kill.
This plus threat of boycott from trade with Europe makes Israel walk on eggshells as Jews get killed by the multiple. The Jihadists and their sympathizers live for such days as today. They get an incredible boost as Jews are sent to the ovens by the busload
