Unfortunately, our nation continues to give assistance and financial support to the Palestinian Authority, which has been criticized by the Bush Administration for supporting and abetting terrorist organizations. A bill introduced by Rep. Otter (H.R.3048) is grounded in the common sense view that the Palestinians should be held accountable in their support for terrorism against Israelis. The bill states that U.S. aid to the Palestinian Authority and other entities should be conditioned upon ending support for terrorism. Under H.R. 3048, American aid to the Palestinians will be given out in no greater than 25% increments every four months, pending a quarterly report from the Administration that the Palestinian Authority’s support for terror has ended.
By supporting this bill, the Congress will make a powerful statement that the Palestinian Authority’s dismal history of excusing, rationalizing, and aiding terrorism against Israel will no longer be tolerated by the United States. I strongly urge you to represent your constituents and support H.R. 3048.
