Biblical references.

As a non jewish person who is new to this site this week, their are several things that have struck me, one of them being the large number of biblical references, it was quite strange to begin with, and I thought that maybe it was just a few posters but as I have gone through various threads it comes across as a recurring theme.

Is it common in Israel for people to make such references in daily life ?
