Soul, this is not a competition of who has suffered more, although we can document that the Palestinians have a history of killing children Maalot, Olympic Athletes-Munich and hiding in churches like the church of the nativity hoping to cause a world crisis. They send children to blow up other children and train them to hate. Stop teaching hatred to your children and we won't read about them killing themselves and murdering others.

If I recall correctly, Russia left Chechnya in 1994 as it got its drunk ass whupped by those warriors.

I appreciate that the IDF is perhaps not the most immoral and terrorist army in the world, but it doesnt juustify its attacks on civilians.

Besides, Russia was humiliated in Chechnya, a lightly armed resistance movement beat a military superpower. Russia lost scores of everything, and Chechnya declared its independance. Russia has come back for round 2, and well the Chechens are the bookies faves again.

I'll agree with you that attacking civilians is wrong, so will almost every Israeli you meet. The problem here is that in guerilla warfare the enemy is not wearing a uniform. The "mad bomber" can be a man/woman of varying ages. The gunmen also multiple ages.

It is a scenario made for heavy civilian casualties, and that is tragic. What I have really been trying to do is to stop the incessant over-the-top dramatic descriptions of the IDF and their actions.

On a slightly different track consider this for a moment. Let's say that you are a soldier on patrol(age 18-20) and you are confronted with teenagers and children throwing rocks at you. Are you simply going to ignore it? No you can't. Mind you that these are not pebbles that you are being assaulted with.

They are large rocks/bricks capable of taking out your eye. If you catch the perpetrator you are likely to consider giving them a serious beating, just like any other armed force/police service in the world.

No, I never really had any questions, I just like to think that I did. I remember going dancing at the Coliseum in '85 and thinking that there was never going to be a better time/place to live than in Israel.

In '88 I wondered about things briefly, but figured that it would all work out. In '95 I was really impressed by how far things seem to have come, but by '98 I was beginning to wonder again and now here we are full circle and then some.
