The Wall Street Journal has been running a daily series about how the French, UN and others parlayed the Oil-for-food Iraq program into a profit center of tremendous proportions, yet, no one on the left it seems, esp the NY Times, is giving this story much coverage.

I wonder why LOL.

The iraqis have uncovered many documents in saddam's former palaces proving that benon sevan and others in the Un, plus many companies in various EU nations, some of which profited their anti-war leadership, and are threatening to use places like the World Court - which the EU originated - against them.

What beautiful irony THAT would be! Using the same court the belgians and french demanded to apply against the US at various times against them. That is the LAST thing the french, russians and UN would EVER want to see, their complicity in pressing against the war WAS BOUGHT by saddam's blood money.

Yet the NY Times and others on the far left wont touch this enormous scandal.

Nothing ironic involved, the world court like any court avails itself to all that can make a legitimate claim. The greed of big business knows no arbitrary lines, and will exploit any situation out of self interest. Really no different than the cronyism practiced by the Bush administration in handing contracts to Haliburton among others. The time honored process of bidding on govt. contracts having been convieniently dispensed with. Something the right never talks about is how fascism always rises from the right.

Perhaps fascism "always rises from the right" because it is a perversion and ultra-extension of right (as in the ideology) principles. The same argument could be made about Communism and the left; to point out one without the other seems disingenous and self-serving.

Tim, certainly you are correct, I adressed the one end of the spectrum because the previous poster makes a habit of adressing many issues as if it were simply a matter of the right being superior to the left. Personaly I find the whole left/right paradigm overly simplistic and generally useless to my own criteria for viewing the world.
