Check out this silly story from the LA Times:
United Nations chief Kofi Annan said on Wednesday he had "very useful" talks with Syrian Foreign Minister Farouq al-Shara on mediation efforts to maintain a fragile cease-fire between Palestinians and Israelis.
"I have had a very useful discussion with the foreign minister. We discussed the situation in the occupied territories and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," Annan said after talks with Shara.
The official Syrian news agency, SANA, quoted Shara as urging Annan to take a more active U.N. role "to put an end to the policies of threat and aggression, which Israel practices against unarmed Palestinian people in the occupied territories."
----
Naturally, Annan, who is one of most useless people in the world, reported absolutely no progress or helpful conclusions following his talks with Syria, but still, Annan, assures the world that his talks were "very useful."
yeah, right, Kofi.
