Europeans can't vote in them!
Now STFU and start fighting terrorism, before you get conquered by Islam, and stop complaining about the nation that saves your sorry butts when your pathetic, cowardly "diplomacy" fails you.

If many of America's ancestors had loved their European homelands so much, they wouldn't have come to this continent. Unfortunately, present generations fail to see that the present US government is becoming alarmingly close to what their forbears intended to flee. President Monroe warned of this danger.

The Monroe Doctrine is the first evidence of the US's rational justification for preemptive war. Crafted largely by JQ Adams it set forth the basic approach that any European threat to any geographic neighbor in the west is a threat to the US and it wil be treated as such. What we see now is an amplification of that doctrine to include 'virtual' or global risks not just geographic risks.
So its entirely in keeping with the Monroe Doctrine.

My take on the Monroe doctrine is that it warned the US about engaging in future entanglements outside its own hemisphere. I could be wrong, though. I never understood it to mean preemptive interference outside the western hemisphere. I guess I'll have to read it again. I hadn't considered that an amplfied interpretation might add additional reponses outside this hemisphere, but then, I don't hold stock in international business conglomerates either. "Follow the money," as it has been stated.
