I am not a long-term fan of the fence. When (I no longer say "if") Israel retreats completely and cowers behind it, we'll all see how useless it will become then. All we've done is bought some time.

Maybe some few israeli jews starts to place out bombs in their own country? Or maybe even israeli citizen suicide-attacks? Does this wall protect against that?

And the Swedish Prime Minister refers to Israeli actions of self defense as "disgusting."

While I think building a fence is long over due it will not prevent mortar and rocket attacks. How are you going to deal with those types of attacks?

the chart doesn't really mean anything. there were a thousand other variables that changed over that time, and without disaggregating the effects from those other factors, like defensive shield, targeted killings etc., it is impossible to say from that chart that the wall has done anything.

I think it has, but to figure that out chart-like you would need to trace the dispersion of terrorist attacks and the ease of interception in areas where the fence has and has not been build, compared to that same area before, trying to account for prior militayr operations to degrade terrorist operations in the area.

Ask anyone here in the military or the police who's in the know and they will tell you that the fence has been a lifesaver. Instead of walking right over into Israel, terrorists have to travel further to bottlenecked entrances leading into Israel.

by escalating. If the palestinians ever develop a government interested in their well-being (which is a big assumption), a sharp response and the threat of sharp responses in response to attacks should get them to behave themselves. It is the only way to maintain a continuous state of non-violence with nations that are your enemy. Deter them.

I agree with you. I'm just saying you cant read that off the chart. there is so much other information muddled in there (because I'm sure you agree defensive shield, targeted killings and other things also helped degrade their capabilities) that you cant really use it as evidence of anything.
