the UN voted overwhelmingly against israel's security fence.
150 countries voted in favour of the palestinian resolution (this includes virtually all of europe)
6 countries voted against it: the united states, micronesia, the marshall islands, palau, australia, and israel
countries who abstained: canada, uruguay, cameroon, tonga, vanuatu, el salvador, uganda, papua new guinea, and the solomon islands
the resolutions demands that israel tear down the barrier so that palestinian terrorists can carry on with their mission of killing jews at once!
edit: bah semsem beat me to it!

It really is no surprise, as the panderers, appeasers and out-and-out anti-Israel/Jew Lobbyists were as always ready to vote. I am also disgusted, that Canuckistan didn’t have the mettle to vote… abstaining, to me, is gutless and may as well have been a yes vote.

Actually all of Europe finally voted for the resolution. There was some confusion because at first Italy, Denmark, Hungary and Czeckoslovakia had reservations. It just shows that the Europeans are no different than their grandparents; dreck.

===> "UNITED NATIONS - Israel should heed a World Court ruling that it was legally obligated to tear down its West Bank barrier despite its unhappiness with the judgment, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said on Wednesday. <===
As far as Kofi Anus is concerned, Israel has committed a terrible crime by trying to defend itself by building a wall. The UN has no other worthwhile problems in this world than to follow Israel's every move.
===> Sudan Militia Still Attack, UN Sanctions Unlikely

UNITED NATIONS - Secretary-General Kofi Annan said on Wednesday Sudan had made little progress in curbing bloodthirsty militias in the Darfur region but diplomats said sanctions against Khartoum were unlikely. <===
Let us try to follow the logic of the goofy, dim-witted, corrupt head of the UN, Kofi Anus.
Israel must take the fence down IMMEDIATELY! Although the fence is keeping out terrorists and thugs who would kill Jewish families, Israel must take the fence down.
But........ millions of Sudan's Christian blacks are being driven from their homes, raped, murdered and mutilated by Arabs and Kofi Anus says "Let's wait and see if anything bad happens."
Inmates from mental institutions are running the UN.

The European’s love fences…… as long as they are used to trap Jews for extermination.
Maybe we can convince them that the fence is designed to trap Jews in Israel.
Then they might be in favor of the fence after all.

could it be because kofiko is a muslem? it's a rather strange trend how he tends to side with arab tyrants and terrorists all the time. a few examples:
- he's alleged to have had a role in the UN's oil-for-food scandal in iraq, where possibly hundreds of UN officials were bribed by saddam while he continued to massacre iraqis and break UN sanctions
- he's anti-israel in every respect. anything that pertains to israel's sovereignty and self-defense he is against it
- he's a palestinian sympathizer and terror apologist. he condemned the targeted killings of pigs like yassin and rantisi and many more like them yet he never bothered to condemn palestinian terrorist groups by name (including arafat's own al-aksa brigades) as well as countless attacks against israeli civlians
- as hundreds of sudanese christians and africans are being slaughtered by his fellow muslems in darfur, annan turns a blind eye to the atrocities committed by muslem militias (who are supported by a muslem government) and does nothing to help the victims
- he is critical of the american actions in iraq today and he opposed the removal of saddam hussein's genocidal regime from power
i think israel as well as the united states should take a time out from the UN as long as this clown is running the show

In any just "International Court of Justice", Kofi Anus, the Moslem Mutt, would have been condemned for being corrupt, incompetent and indirectly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands because of his inaction and his deliberate acts to protect and shield Moslem acts of terrorism.
Kofi Anus should be charged with crimes against humanity. He is a perfect example of the low quality and corrupt nature of the various African and Moslem leaders.

I wonder wether the latest developments in the diplomacy of ariel sharon provoqued a reaction/outrage which made europe vote against rather than abstain.

That's what you call reliable facts about the wording of the resolution ?
Or maybe some kind of opinion of yours, like the french=nazi the reader can more than often read here?

It's probably true. Sharon said, something, it doesn't matter what, and France, eagerly seeking to slap Israel for its criticism of the French foreign minister coming to Ramallah to polish Arafat's codpiece, so they help condemn an entire nation. With any luck the French will help foment more suicide bombings in Jerusalem so they can tweak their own Jews noses and sneer "see - we told you you should never leave..."

Sometimes I think the best course of action would be to form a new UN based around free and open trade, common joint security agreements, similar world views and governmental systems (rule of law, human rights, bill of rights stuff), extradition treaties etc.
Agreements/Amendments would be put in place based upon the majority vote concurrence of two legislative bodies. One based on economics and the other population of the signer countries. The economic vote paradigm would prevent the decisions from become to populist/socialist/wealth transfer while the population vote paradigm would prevent the over concentration of wealth/investment in the hands of a few individuals/countries i.e. disportitonate per capita income.
The primary enticements is economic and security agreements. Considering that US owns 25% of the world’s economy and about 90% of the worlds weapons we might get some interest given there are a number of countries that have significantly aligned interests with the US. If given the opportunity to choose between Old Europe and the US most would choose the US. The social decline of Old Europe is well underway. All the Muslim immigrants will be poor replacements for a once great civilization.
Then again the old saying of “keeping your enemies closer†might be the best way.
It is clear to all but the blind that the UN is one of the most corrupt/incompetent organizations in history. Fortunately they don’t have an army.

What would have happened if Israel would have voted in favor of the UN resolution?
They would explain that they voted for it because a country moral standing is apparently decided by their vote on Pal issues, regardless of what they do at home, and regardless of whether they actually ever give any real help to the Pals. Israel also feels that it can pay lip service to Palestinian suffering, especially since it actually gives them money and humanitarian assistance, but it will continue to defend itself, since how you vote in the UN has no bearing on what you do at home. And GA votes don't mean anything anyway.
This would have a very interesting effect. Its hard to scream that the whole world is against Israel, when Israel voted together with them. Israel would be condemned for making a total mockery of the system, which would be very well earned.
There is no better way to tell the UN that we really don't care about what they have to say.
