New members used to have to wait until they had ten posts before they could start threads. Since the software was changed, they can start new threads right away.
I think it is better that they should wait, and get used to the board.

Why? This is not the only forum in the world, I think the rules are known to almost everyone.
No, I don't object the rule. I just ask...

They do not need to learn the rules, but they should get used to the member's positions, and the general response to various issues. They will see what is of interest, and how we approach it. etc.

Members' positions? You mean occupations, political parties, ranks in the army etc.?
General response? I thought this forum consists of members who have different opinions!

I think that the compelling reason to have people participate a bit before they can post new threads is that it is prohibitive to disruption and spamming. It is a small threshold that discourages those who really have no interest in Israel and are just interested in causing grief.

David, I agree! It'd be nice to hear from the moderators though, how much difficulty with spammers and the like there had been in the past. Probably little, if the rules were changed.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
When upgrading the software, many settings were changed without notice, including this apparently.
I think that is now back to the way it was, requiring new members to post a certain number of posts (not 10 actually), before being able to start new threads.
There is a reason for this policy, that I'd rather not disclose for security reasons.

How cool: are you a member of the MOSSAD? Wait: please don't tell me; then, you'd have to kill me. :D

Gotcha. Okay. That's exactly what someone in the MOSSAD would say.
That is SO cool! :p

Hi,
saw some posts with the sign "Report bad post". What is the intention to mark them? It's a forum with a mix of posters who sometimes are rude, sometimes post nonsense, but it's a forum with fixed rules (read them:-)).
Who decides wether a posting is a bad one?

New members used to have to wait until they had ten posts before they could start threads. I think becoming a member and starting a thread should be delayed to, let's say 50?
Then you have more time to expose some true colours in the TM's.

I can understand the reason for not wanting people being able to post new threads until they have made other posts however I joined just to ask some questions.
How can i do that without making inane posts just to get my score above 10?
How about a "new user" forum where questions can be asked and moved to the apropriate forums by mods if suitable?

You could find an existing thread that's connected to whatever questions you want to ask.
