An Emergency Appeal for the Children of Gush Katif

Children go to school and parents go to work. From a distance this community looks like any other. But looks can be deceiving.
In a short time these 8,300 residents of Gush Katif will find out whether they can remain in the homes they built and keep the businesses they rely on, or whether they will lose everything.
The children are the ones suffering the most. These children wake each morning not knowing where the next attack will come from, or who will be a target. They do not know if they will have a home, a school or if they will be able to remain with their friends. The uncertainty is damaging to the emotional well being of these children.
For this reason Gush Katif, in conjunction with the One Israel Fund, has launched an emergency appeal to raise funds for a Crisis Intervention Team to help these children through this difficult period. The Crisis Intervention Team will provide services, such as after school programs, which will keep the children occupied, and give them an outlet to express their anxieties. Child therapists will be available to help the children with the trauma they face, and offer them the support and encouragement they need to be able to carry on their daily lives as normally as possible.
Regardless of your inclinations about the "disengagement" plan – we ask that you put them aside to help these innocent youngsters, at this very traumatic time in their lives.
