Channel 1 news showed an item today about a convention that was held in Moshav Nahalal in Izrael valley. It more or less the center of Mapay, predecessor of Labor party. Participants included senior citizens from neighboring Kibutz-s and Moshavs.

They gathered to express support for the settlers whom they call "our pioneering brothers." Guest at the convention was Daniella Veiss, mayor of regional council at WB. The organizers said they were pleasently surprised to see the large numbers of prticipants. They all signed a petition to the gov't and a commitment to come down to Gush Katif and stop the evacuation with a sit-down.

I am only surprised that it didn't happen sooner. Labor used to be as Zionist as the right-wingers, but then all of the sudden they decided to betray the principles that found both Israel and their party. I was only surprised how little opposition Rabin, Beilin, Peres & Co received from Labor. So it's really about time!
