U.S. Caught in Arafat's Revolving Door
June 3, 2002
Contrinuted by www.IsraelForum.com

This week, a flurry of Palestinian activity has resulted in humiliation for the U.S. and Britain. Earlier, Arafat extended an official offer to include groups listed in the U.S. and EU list of terrorist organizations, in the “reformed” Palestinian leadership. The terrorist groups courted by Arafat include the Hamas, PFLP and Islamic Jihad, and their invitation to lead the Palestinian people amounts to a slap in the face to President Bush and his advisors.

To add insult to injury, now Arafat has also instructed an official Palestinian court to order the release of Ahmad Sa'adat, leader of the PFLP. Sa’adat is currently being held in a Ramallah prison under U.S. and British guard, as part of the U.S.-brokered deal to free Arafat from last month’s Israeli siege. The leader of the PFLP is wanted by Israel for planning and directing the assassination of Israeli tourism minister, Rehavam Ze’evi last year.

Like all previous deals with Arafat, the Palestinian leader has, once again, reneged on his commitments to fight terrorism and to hold Sa’adat prisoner. The news this time is that the prestige and credibility of the U.S. and of President Bush are at risk. To save face, the U.S. must act forcefully to ensure that Arafat upholds his commitments, because it was the U.S. and the EU who countered Ariel Sharon’s position that Arafat was not an “irrelevant” supporter of terrorism.

The U.S. will find itself now caught in Arafat’s revolving door, through which Palestinian mass murderers are set free in a record short time. The mistakes of the U.S. and the EU in continuing to maintain Arafat in a position of authority, are now painfully exposed by the ungrateful Arafat’s actions.

But, as the biblical saying goes, “there is nothing new under the sun.” Arafat has been and continues to be a terrorist supporter and perpetrator, whose goal is to destroy Israel through the use of terrorism. For a while, it seems that the U.S. was willing to prop up Arafat and save him from Israeli retaliation. Now, however, Arafat has dealt what might very well turn out to be a fatal blow to his benefactors. Arafat’s vision for reform is now clearer than ever – a higher degree of cooperation with internationally recognized terrorists, a continuation of his national Jihad against Israel, and at the same time, public humiliation for President Bush and Colin Powell.

Arafat changes his mind like the weather there has been so many deals that have gone by the way when dealing with him.

Every Israeli Prime Minister has offered to cut a deal with the Palestinians despite the fact that attacks against civilians and the inter structure of Israel continued unabated.

Even now as I sit by my keyboard and type this behind the scene worthless negotiations are taking place between Israel and the Palestinians. I say worthless because in the end their surpreme commander must approve them.

No matter what evil deeds the Palestinians undertake the hand of peace will always be outstretched. This has set precedents and has weakened Israel’s position. It has weakened its position because the population in the WB and GS know they can cause as much havoc as they please but in the end all will be forgiven.

Mass deportation was a feasible option in the 1960’s but today that chance has faded away. The cycle of ‘kill and hunt’ in the ME remains the same but the support for the Palestinians has grown in the world community to the point where there would be severe consequences if mass deportation was even considered.

I fear that the cycle can only be broken with the destruction of one party. I don’t think that Israel would have difficulty to exterminate the Palestinians unless there was intervention by the world community. This will however never be a reality because it violates the laws of Israel and the Geneva Convention.

It seems like Arabs have the ability to handle fanatics and fundamentalists among their own kind, within their borders. In short they eliminate anyone that they don’t like and I suppose at times that becomes a great problem solver. This type of mentality is prevalent in Africa, S. America and much of Asia.

Since Uganda achieved independence from Britain in 1962 millions of Ugandans have ended up as food for crocodiles. Today as I write this murders and assassinations continue unabated. Pol Pot slaughtered at least two million Cambodians not to long ago. And the list goes on…

In the end I really feel that the world community should set a new precedent whereas any funding for the Palestinians in the WB and GS should be forwarded to Israel and it should doled out by Israel as it sees fit. All this nonsense where the Palestinians are given X amount of dollars and some is siphoned of to support terrorists has to stop immediately. As a matter of fact funding should be based on the behavior of the Palestinians. In other words draw a line in the sand and stipulate quite clearly that in the event that one terrorist attack is launched funding will be suspended for a year.

True. In fact, there has been no agreement that has been upheld by Arafat to date.

Looks like the embarrassed U.S. has decided that the Palestinian murderer will not be allowed to just walk out of the jail compound, which is a pity, really.

Earlier, Sharon declared that if the terrorist was allowed to walk, the Israel would "bring justice to him." ;)

It sounds much better in Arabic or Hebrew, but basically, it means "the day of every dog comes". As in, "you`ll get what you deserve".

'Every dog has his day' means something quite different in idiomatic English - it's actually a positive affirmation of the underdog.

Yes, I know that, that`s why I hoped that you know what it means in middle eastern terms... Anyway, it is also pronounced differently, the word "kalb" is said as an insult.

You mean, what you sow you will reap? What a novel concept! You would think that many would have learned this basic message by now. Perhaps Israel is the hook set in the jaw of Arafat as it was in the Jaw of pharoah.
