I think there are three kinds of Jews who do this:

The traitorous collaborators who want to “survive at all cost”
The ones who suffer from a syndrome akin to the “Stockholm Syndrome”
The misguided idealistic utopians who suffer from “a messianic syndrome”


The traitorous collaborators
Examples of these were the Jewish “Capos” in the German concentration camps during WWII. A similar example in ancient times may have been the historian, Josephus, who became a “turn coat” and joined the Romans after the defeat of the Jewish rebellion.

The Stockholm Syndrome
Often through ignorance and because of repeated vilification, some Jews begin to identify with their haters and prosecutors. This is similar to the survival strategies of some hostages who begin to identify with their abductors. I believe Patty Hearst (who is not Jewish) was a good example of this when she began to identify with her abductors, the Symbianese Liberation Army”.

The Misguided Idealistic Utopians
Some Jews live in “ivory towers” rather than in the real world. Although their intentions may be good and they try to be moral in their philosophy, they don’t live in the practical real world. Their mistake is that they tend to expect Jews to be better than others (their secular version of the “Chosen People” ?). Unfortunately, they don’t realize the reality that Jews/Israel, if they are to survive, cannot afford to be much better than anyone else, least of all their ruthless enemies.

The sad thing for such Jews is that as far as the antisemites and haters are concerned, no Jew has any redeeming qualities. They may be prepared to accept, tolerate or even praise the “self hating Jews” momentarily however they ultimately consider them to be just “Court Jews”……they say things like ….”yea…they are just Jews ….but they are our Jews….”. They may be tolerated but they are nevertheless despised and hated anyway.

Remember the film A Soldier's Story (1984, starring Howard Rollins, director Norman Jewson)? For me, this film provides a great insight into the tragedy of victims of racism (in this case, African Americans) who are themselves trapped by the stereotypes created against them by racists. I have often wondered if the same may not be said of many Jews.

Risking being a nudnik, may I broaden my previous point that perhaps one of the reasons for Jewish anti-Jewishness is that victims of racism may themselves be trapped by the stereotypes created against them by racists. In the film mentioned in my previous post (no. 6), a black soldier murders another because, in his eyes, that other black soldier conformed too much to racist stereotypes created by whites, and therefore brought shame on all blacks. It is a tragic inversed view that distressed victims of racism may fall into, and perhaps some Jews suffer from just the same distress.

But seriously, I agree with the stockholm syndrome theory.But I think there can be many reasons for jew hating jews.
And perhaps it can be as simple as being ashamed or resentful of your parents,and therefore everything to do with your background.Leading to self hatred and in these cases jew hatred and the desire to show yourself to the world as being different than "them".
It's my opinion anyway.Perhaps a psychologist would disagree.

Yes, I suppose I agree with Medio too but I can't help feeling that it's worth trying to understand what type of mental state drives them if only to ensure that we pay better attention to the new generation......Or so that perhaps some of them can recognise their condition and miraculously change (as if :rolleyes: but one can atleast hope) But I suppose we will always have the misfortune of scoring some new self hating idiots ......
