Avid surfers from several Gush Katif communities are threatening to take their boards out to sea on evacuation day and commit mass suicide by drowning. Settlement secretariats, psychologists and social workers have known about the plans of these young men, aged 16-21, for several weeks.

sad, not sure what i will do if i was an israelian official.

this is a real big dilemma.

these guys are taking it too extreme, a bit similiar to my other post" sad case".

not sure how many but they will multiply in about 7 years time with children which can improve the head count of so much needed chidren to replenish the older generation.

what can the Israelis do? They can try to prevent this but if they do take their own lives, i would not place the blame on the Israeli government or Army.

I agree Sam. Someone needs to convince them to fight for thier ideals along with their fellow Israeli's, not in small groups and in death; what good can they do, except for a cry for attention, that way? The article said,"Some members of the group have had first-hand experience of grief when close relatives or friends were killed in terrorist attacks. Others grew up in families where parents have also threatened suicide over the upcoming evacuation." Emotion and expectation, I think we've all been victims of the same feeling going through these guys. The article was from the 3rd, what did happen?
