Edward Said made the idea that criticizing anything Arab or Muslim is both racist and Islamophobic, and it seems like his views are being echoed by the muslim community of Britain.

Despite the fact that Omar Bakri who praised the suicide bombers that struck in London as the fantastic four, and the 9-11 hijackers as the magnificent martyrs was on the Supreme Islamic Council of Britain it appears that criticizing the Council has become a capital offense.

From the article.

"The British Broadcasting Corp's Panorama documentary said groups affiliated with the Muslim Council of Britain, the country's most powerful Islamic body, were peddling hard-line, intolerant religious views.

The council's Secretary General Sir Iqbal Sacranie said the program was "deeply unfair" and was "purposefully trying to sabotage" Muslims' progress in mainstream political participation."

Also the very idea of criticizing muslims who hold their fellow muslims back by trying to prevent them from adopting western values in a halarious twist is apparently a "pro-Israel agenda"

From the article

"The council — an umbrella organization with more than 400 affiliated groups — already has written to the BBC claiming the documentary has a "pro-Israeli agenda," he said."

Perhaps if they don't want programs to criticize them for doing nothing about extremism they should actually do some real and determined action to fight extremism.

For one thing they should check the membership of the council and see how many more Omar Bakris are on it and expell them, and after seeing if any council members spew extremist rhetoric in Arabic only and expell those as well, then they could subject all people affiliates with them for extremism.

The fact that Omar Bakri was a council member should speak volumes.
