It seems that the brutal population transfer in Amona is causing Israelis to reexamine their perception of police and army troops. Do Israeli nationalists still view the army as "their" army? For some, the answer is apparently no.

The Israeli press reports that when soldiers arrived at a Jerusalem post office this week, postal workers refused to provide service to the soldiers, saying that the soldiers participated in the forced expulsion of Jews.

The incident really shows the enormous tear in Israeli society caused by the violent expulsion ordered by the Olmert government. It came before Israelis could heal from the forced Gaza expulsion by Sharon.

As an interesting related story, results of a poll in Israel showed that 72% of settlers believe that even more violent confrontations will occur, and 42% of settlers believe that there is a reasonable chance of a civil war in Israel.

Still, 60% of Israelis living inside the Green Line favor more unilateral withdrawals, and 37% are opposed to it.
