"Palestinians" rumored to plan to import power from Egypt!

Right on! I'd say Israel needs to just cut them off from its power, water, and everything else, regardless of their plans to import these from somewhere else. Just keep this Arab vermin behind the fense, and out of Israel.

Palestinian sources say Authority plans construction of electrical facility in Egypt, thus weaning itself off more expensive Israeli electricity

The Palestinian government plans to build an electrical facility in Egypt that will allow it to take power from Egypt, weaning itself off more expensive Israeli electricity, a Palestinian official said on Sunday.

Suleiman Abu Samhadana, Palestinian undersecretary for energy and electricity, told reporters at the Rafah border crossing in northern Egypt that authorities in Cairo had approved the project, which would cost USD 15 million and cut the Gaza Strip’s electricity bill by 44 percent. He said the Kuwait Development Fund would bear the costs of the plant, which would be built five km (three miles) into Egypt from the Egypt-Gaza border.

Abu Samhadana was on his way to Cairo to attend meetings with Egyptian officials on implementing the project.

Last week EU leaders <a class="bluelink" href="http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3263745,00.html" '="">endorsed an estimated 100 million euro (USD 126 million) aid package to the Palestinians, to be paid via a new funding mechanism as of next month.

The European Commission spokeswoman said the aid package was divided into three parts, including an element focused on the health sector, extending a funding program currently operating through the World Bank.

The other two parts were a contribution for essential utilities, including fuel, and a "social safety net" to come into effect later which would involve paying money directly into accounts of individuals based on their needs.

A sign of increasing strength, more trade, more modern home appliances. What's wrong with that?

It's a very healthy development. If the Palestinians are to become independent, they need to achieve a certain level of economic independence from Israel. Israel will remain their most natural export market of course, but they cannot count on us forever to provide for them.

Also, power coming from Egypt will probably be cheaper, so the Palestinians will benefit in terms of the size of their bills, while the Israeli Electrical company will no longer be obliged to provide electricity "for humanitarian reasons" to people who refuse to pay for it. It's a win-win.

P.S. I suggest we trade KettleWhistle to Egypt as the new power source for that electrical facility. His hatred for Arabs is intense, infinitely renewable and, judging by the quality of comments, quite cheap. He could keep the lights in Gaza burning for decades!

I do not hate Arabs. I just love my people enough to support them properly in the time of war. And to support Jewish independence and the territorial integrity of my homeland.

kettlewhiste, you often claimed that palestinians recived electricity free from israel. If this is true, why do they want to get 'cheaper electricity' in egypt?

    ?
I doubt Kettlewhistle has said this, as Israel has, in the past, cut off utilities (including electricity) to Palestinians when payment is not received.
