Womble as a new mod: declaration of intentions

    Hello, dear posters.

As you may have noticed, I have just been made into a new moderator of the news section, and this is my introductory post. I've requested to be made a moderator of the News section mainly in order to clean this place up from racist comments and personal insults which fly both ways far too often as of late.

So here's how things are going to work (hopefully):

1)Any post of offensive nature as defined by Newsguy's Rules of the Road may, and to the best of my ability, will, be edited or deleted as soon as I spot it.

2)Since I am not here 24/7, and I do not read every single thread, a bit of vigilance on the part of forum posters will also be in order. Any poster who has a complaint about a post that they think may contradict the Rules of the Road can report them to me via a private message. When reporting a post, please provide the link to the thread and the post's number.

3)There will be no subtle, sneaky editing that makes it look as if the post's offensive contents just vanished into thin air. I will make sure to sign my handiwork.

4)Sometimes, if I think that the poster wasn't being deliberately offensive but simply let their temper get the better of them, I will not edit the post, but ask the poster to do so. However, if that happens and the poster does not comply, I will consider the offense in his post to have been deliberate, and will react accordingly.

5)If you have any kind of problem with any of my decisions, you can talk to me about it via private message. I will not respond to anyone who posts their complaints in public. If you have talked to me and you still aren't satisfied, take it to the admin.

That be all for today. I am leaving this thread stickied for now, watch it for updates.

This is the best news I've ever heard on here. If anyone deserves to be a moderator on these forums, it's you.

I may actually stick around for awhile...

    Congratulations, sweetheart.

Those rules of the road look good on paper. I only hope they can be realised.

Great choice for a moderator (methinks).

Womble, you seem to have more patience then most when it comes to talking to the extremist nutcakes in our midst... I hope with the addition of another moderator things will mellow out a bit so that this forum can reflect it's Pro-Israel purpose. If you catch my drift.

Womble, congrats. It's nice to see some more moderators And hopefully unlike the others you will actually do something, instead of just sit and watch.

Like someone here said, I want this forum to be a pro-Israel forum, and it bothers me to see so many anti-Semitic and anti-Israel posts not being deleted. Sometimes I think I came to stormfront.

Please clean up this mess. And it's not that I don't want to practice freedom of speech but it's more about the fact that these nazis that come here they are not even willing to listen. It's always nice to hear a different opinion. But these newbies are not just posting different opinions, they post hateful things about Israel and not willing to learn.

What is the point of keeping a person here that is not open minded? That is my question.

You didn't mention the "bad report" button. Does it work? Can we use that?

I will not delete posts on the sole basis of expressing an opposing opinion, if the poster appears capable of backing his opinion up with facts and logic. Dissent is important, and let's face it, we would all grow bored without it. However, posts which contain anti-Semitic, racist or ethnic slurs will be deleted. Posts copy pasted from dedicated propaganda websites will be deleted. Pointless one-liner posts the only purpose of which is to bait the opponent into derailing the discussion will be deleted.

Of course you can. I didn't mention it because I have only just found out myself how it works. However, if for some reason you want to draw MY attention specifically rather than just any avaliable moderator, PM is preferable.
