    America- after 33 years of liberalism

    America; after 33 years of Liberalism

    I graduated from High School in June of 1973. Northern California.

    Our class song was "We've only just begun" by the Carpenters. Viet Nam was on its way out; and we still had good music as it was pre-disco. The POWs returned home that year and we and Israel were about to receive a big shock October 1973....Israel via an invasion and America via a gas crisis.

    We still had a lot of WW2 vets as teachers; These teachers from the "greatest generation" were still shaking their head at what might in the future be called "the worst generation." As we were in the tail end of this baby boomer generation; we used to laugh at the "feel good" antics of our brothers 5 years older. The "love the one you're with" and "let it all hang out" dopers soon moved to Wall Street to make their millions; or continued to live off daddy's trust fund.

    Everyone knew the definition of the word "is."

    America had survived the temper tantrum the early baby boomers had vented during 1968-1970; but the Democratic party had turned very Left after Chicago 68 and McGovern in 72. Things started going downhill very fast for my little piece of America. California was great during the 60's but turned into the bozoland that it is today, shortly after.

    Here is something someone sent me. It is VERY true; even for my Northern California.

    Scenario: Jack pulls into school parking lot with rifle in gun rack.

    1973 - Vice Principal comes over, takes a look at Jack's rifle, goes to his car and gets his to show Jack.

    2006 - School goes into lockdown, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.
    ++++++ +++++++++ +++++++++++
    Scenario: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.

    1973 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up best friends. Nobody goes to jail, nobody arrested, nobody expelled.

    2006 - Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark. Charge them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.

    ++++++++++++ +++++++++ +++++++++ +

    Scenario: Jeffrey won't be still in class, disrupts other students.

    1973 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by Principal. Sits still in class.

    2006 - Jeffrey given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie. School gets extra money from state because Jeffrey has a disability.
    ++++++++++++ +++++++++ +++++

    Scenario: Billy breaks a window in his father's car and his Dad gives him a whipping.

    1973 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college, and becomes a successful businessman.

    2006 - Billy's Dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy removed to foster care and joins a gang. Billy's sister is told by state psychologist that she remembers being abused herself and their Dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has affair with psychologist.
    ++++++++++++ +++++++++ ++++++++

    Scenario: Mark gets a headache and takes some headache medicine to school.

    1973 - Mark shares headache medicine with Principal out on the smoking dock.

    2006 - Police called, Mark expelled from school for drug violations. Car searched for drugs and weapons.
    ++++++++++++ +++++++++ ++++

    Scenario: Mary turns up pregnant.

    1973 - 5 High School Boys leave town. Mary does her senior year at a special school for expectant mothers.

    2006 - Middle School Counselor calls Planned Parenthood, who notifies the ACLU. Mary is driven to get an abortion without her parent's consent or knowledge. Mary given condoms and told to be more careful next time.
    ++++++++++++ +++++++++ +++++

    Scenario: Pedro fails high school English.

    1973 : Pedro goes to summer school, passes English, goes to college.

    2006 : Pedro's cause is taken up by state Democratic party. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core curriculum. Pedro given diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he can't speak English.
    ++++++++++++ +++++++++

    Scenario: Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the 4th of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle, blows up a red-ant bed.

    1973 - Ants die.

    2006 - BATF, Homeland Security, FBI called. Johnny charged with domestic terrorism, FBI investigates parents, siblings removed from home, computers confiscated, Johnny's Dad goes on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.
    ++++++++++++ +++++++++

    Scenario: Little Mary falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. She is found crying by her teacher, Mr. Baker. Mr. Baker, hugs her for comfort.

    1973 - In a short time Mary feels better and goes on playing.

    2006 - Mr. Baker is accused of being a sexual predator and loses his job. He faces 3 years in State Prison. Mary undergoes 5 years of therapy.

    Liberalism was the end product of too much comfort, and too much democracy. One weakness of democracy is that it eventually turns into mobocracy where everything devolves to the lowest common denominator.

    THe "Greatest Generation" would not have BEEN that without the Depression and WWII. Those challenges gave people a chance to rise and measure themselves against adversity.

    We need another massive war to redefine ourselves and purge weakness from the West. Our Jihadist friends have a mirror-image of that goal, for the same VALID reasons. We are both right to fight, and let the best culture win!

    Humanity does not become stronger in peace, but in war. Culture thrives on it, and in perfect competition it weeds out the weak cultures that do not deserve to survive.

    Actually all those responses are the result of law and order right wing stormtrooper tactics seens in schools where there are now 5 cops on site full time and every infraction is an H class felony. My son's HS sees one arrest per day on average. Last month they teargassed an entire lunchroom.

    Medio:

    I disagree that the frantic response is right wing. I see it as PC run amok. The kids are doped up on Paxil, where only dark feelings come through. They watch cr*p on TV, on Video and in their games. Many do not have parents. Teachers cannot discipline. No more reform schools.

    That is the Left at work, not the Right. While the over reaction could be deemed nazi or communist; the fact that society is falling apart and these crimes are becoming everyday...is the result of leftists policies. You seem the same in Europe by the way.

    Now, I would agree that the police in general have become militarized to an extreme; and with one cough you have the SWAT team down your back. I am not sure if that is Right or Left wing as I can envision both Lenin and Hitler responding the same way. But that is VERY bad. I teach my kids that anyone wearing a mask is the badguy. I don't care if it is the local SWAT team. If you are a goodguy you don't need to wear a mask in the USA.

    Farmall:

    I agree that adversity builds character. But wars hurt both sides, and should be avoided at all cost. The US has not exerienced a real war since the Civil War (total war on our soil) and I am sure that we would have to bleed off a million or so fruitcakes to ever win a big war again.

    I am convinced that the only way we won WW2 was because Hitler invaded Russia and Uncle Joe was on our side. If Russia had been on the other side, the true Leftists would have sabotaged the war just as they did in Korea, Viet Nam, South/Central America and Iraq.

    Internal America haters are our big disease. I am not talking about Democrats. We all know who are the big haters. They are the ones who cheer our defeats....I am talking about the New Left, the Progressives et. al.

    And frankly, these are the guys who also hate Israel at the moment.

    "But wars hurt both sides, and should be avoided at all cost. "

    Since when is "hurt" a reason to avoid useful war? America was born in, hardened, expanded, and empowered by war, (as was Israe). Avoiding war at "all cost" is easy. It's called "surrender".

    We don't do well when we RESTRAIN ourselves. When we wage Total War we do beautifully. People and State fuse into an engine of destruction that has put millions (literally) of those who opposed us to the sword.

    Whole enemy cities vanished before our arms, and most importantly that magnificent violence led to the enemy giving up the fight.

    The only exception was the Korean War, which China could have sustained as long as they wished.
    Viet Nam was a failure because we were too weak-minded to bomb the paddy dikes and destroy the enemy food supply infrastructure., but it was not Total War on our side either.

    "They established a cult of victimhood, a very strange pathology where people obtain a sense of honor by claiming the status of righteous victim. Where is the accountability? Where is the dignity? Liberalism whether it came from the government, media or educational institutions became so paternalistic. It wasn't about creating opportunities and equality, or maybe that was the intention, but the design turned grown men and women into children. That to me has been the great failure of liberalism."

    I agree.
    Being a victim is not an accomplishment, it is not of itself honorable, and it is toxic to humor people who wallow in their victimhood.

    As for the "Homeless Man", he would be better titled "Worthless Man".
    Being a parasite is not an accomplishment.

    The poor people who are NOT worthless are not normally panhandling, but doing something to help change their situation.

    I always wanted to stand by a freeway on ramp, in a three piece suit, with a sign that said:
    "BMW needs repair"

    I thought it was very funny and very true, but I agree with Medio that it isn't all liberalism. I think the past generation has allowed government to interfere more and more into the lives of ordinary Americans. We no longer question that any law abiding citizen should even have a right to privacy. It's a given that all of us should give our most intimate details up to the government, whether it's our bank transactions, our phone calls, what web sites we visit, what library books we check out, where we travel, who we visit. And as for our Constitutional rights, forget it. The government now has a right to arrest any American citizen on charges that don't have to be put forth, prevent them from contacting a lawyer, fly them out of the country and have them tortured. Nobody seems to care that much.

    I'll tell you what, a couple generations ago, if you saw some jihadees in the streets of the Bronx cursing America and your way of life and calling you infidels in your own streets, they wouldn't have police protection, the police would be protecting the citizens from media cameras while they laid down the beating of a potential jihadee's lifetime. And I would bring some chains and lawn furniture. I guess we can't count on that anymore.

    Examples please? And former felons like Pedilla don't count in my opinion. My sympathy ends at misdemeanors.

    If someone hates me or even wishes me dead, you are right, I don't care at all. What would be better,would be to hand them over to some guy named Zed and his gimp.

    Padilla was imprisoned for over three years without charge. He was classified as an enemy combattant, meaning neither US law or the Geneva convention applies to him. ANY US citizen could be classified as an enemy combattant since, once so classified, there is no need to bring charges. The government doesn't even have to reveal what their reasons are for classifying someone that way, EVER! AND THAT'S THE LAW.

    Only the Supreme Court even has the right to question such a case. A lawyer, if such a detainee could even contact one would not be allowed access to any evidence against his client and, as we have seen is under threat of their career for even offering to defend such a person.

    If this is going to save an airplane from being blown up and 3,000 from being killed by jihadis then they can go right ahead and tap my phone like i give a flying %&^. It seems to me only people who have something to hide and/or bleeding heart leftists have a problem with the Patriot Act.

    Just remember that is the mindset that every dictator that ever took power depended on. I don't really know why our founders wrote the Constitution with people like yourself around so willing to undo it.
