Can somebody truthfully explain which is the lie?

I am demanding ana explanation for why before 2006 people had the guts to invent an "First Arab Minister" who existed only in imagination.

So that means Israel's first Arab minister IS Raleb Majadele appointed by Amir Peretz, not Salah Tarif appointed by Ariel Sharon.

Israel's PR in Greece has made the appointment of Salah Tarif as "first Israeli Arab Minister in Israel" common knowledge and I am furious that Israel has been lying to everyone for years about having had an Arab Minister.

Try to be honest, nobody likes liars.

Fortunately for Israel's public image nobody in Greece reads Israeli Media, but anyone who does will be just as angry at being lied to for years as I am right now.

Tarif was a minister, and he is a non-Muslim Arab. But Majadele is Muslim, and he is the first Muslim to be a minister, yes. It wasn't a lie, moreso miscommunication on behalf of Ynet for emphasizing his ethnicity instead of religion in the headline.

This depends on whether or not you consider the Druze to be Arabs, which is a bit of a tricky question. Ethnically, they are Arabs. although some of them (the Israeli Druze in particular) regard themselves as a separate ethnicity. It would probably be more accurate to call Tarif the first non-Jewish Israeli minister- but calling him an Arab is not entirely incorrect either.

Salah Tarif is a Druze. They separated into their own religious community centuries ago, and they don't intermarry. So while they share the Arab origin, they, generally, don't consider themselves to be Arabs, and many don't like being labeled as such. There actually had been tensions between the Druze in Arabs in Israel.

Thanks that explains everything I guess, although it did look like Israel was lying when "The first Arab Minister" was news in the Israeli press some years after it was reported here.

That should teach you a thing or two about jumping to conclusions, I suppose
