Please list and describe your favorites.

I am thinking of ordering from Carmel. I remember I used to buy a Carmel bottle with the picture of a woman's mosaic on it... It was about 20 Shekels, young and tasty. Red, I think Cab Savign. Can someone remind me, or look up the name if you are near a wine store in Israel...

Also is anyone familiar with Noah and Daton wines???

I am a fan of Rashi's Barbera d'Alba. Produced in the Piemonte region of North Italy. Every bottle is a winner so far.

California wines are my favorite, but Italy by far makes the best wines in the world - It's almost impossible to find any French wines since the spring of 2003 here in the MidWest.

Australian, Argentine and Israeli wines from the Golan Heights have pretty much replaced the French.

If it has to be a Kosher wine, this here Ohioan enjoys the Yarden Pinot Noir (grown by the Golani) with blends of ripe raspberry, cherry and cranberry characteristics.

I consider Australian/New Zealand wines the best. On the other hand, I have not tried all of them. I used to buy Carmel decades ago, but the hangover was always colossal!

Israeli wines are decent in quality, but they need to age no less than 5 years to be really good. And that makes them a bit pricey. I'm generally into California wine, with occasional E. Washington whites, but here in Israel, I usually buy either Barkan brand, or "Israeli" brand Cabernet Savignon made by Efrat winery. The latter is very very young, so it's a bit bland, but at 30 shekels a bottle makes a decent buy.

30 shekels is equal to 5.48 euros. Not bad.

It is not that good of a deal when comparing to what you can get in the U.S. A good bottle of young California wine for $7-7.50 is by far superior to the 30 shekel Israeli, possibly just because California wines are good young. And Israeli incomes are significantly lower than those in the U.S. and Europe.
