3 killed in Eilat suicide bombing

Eilat: 3 killed in terror attack

Three people were killed and two others were critically wounded Monday morning in an suicide bombing attack that rocked a shopping area located in Eilat’s Izidor neighborhood.

Police confirmed that a suicide bomber blew himself up in a bakery in the neighborhood that was bustling with shoppers at the time, dispelling earlier reports that the blast was caused by a gas cylinder.

Three Palestinian groups - the Islamic Jihad, Fatah's military wing as well as the unknown 'Army of the Faithful' - carried out the attack, a Palestinian official who refused to be identified told Ynet.

"There were four bodies at the scene, one of which belonged to the suicide bomber … The scene is terrifying," a Magen David Adom paramedic told Ynet.

Eilat District police commander Bruno Stein said: "This is an extremely serious incident which requires us to think fast. We have boosted our forces' presence in the city and are working on finding out who stands behind the bombing. We believe the attack was carried out by more than one terrorist."
“This is a reality but I won’t deal with it in terms of recognizing or admitting it.”

    Khaled Mashaal, Hamas leader

Just give them more land, don't hunt after terrorists, elect more Arabs to the cabinett etc., and that should stop the killing Mr. Olmert. I'm pretty sure of it.

On a serious note, terrible and RIP to the murdered ones, and may the suicide bomber rest in piss. A week ago I was thinking about taking a trip to Eilat. Was there before, and would like to go there again.

Egypt wanted to acquire Eilat recently and that border seems so unprotected as to be frightening. Egyptian arms dealers are enjoying their trade more than ever, I surmise, and have ready customers 'behind every tree'.

According to papers in my country, the death toll is now four. Not good for tourism.

Israeli/Jewish leftists should be happy now. The legacy of their leaders, Rabin, Peres, Beilin, Arab MKs, and the work of Gush Od-Shoa/Piece Now are paying off. My question to sharonbn, tzhanchan, Ricki, Jorge, and the like minded individuals: How does it feel having the blood of these people on your hands? (And I'm 100% serious in asking this question.)

    From channel 2 via JP:

Police and the Shin Bet were looking into the possibility that the bomber had infiltrated Israel from the Sinai Peninsula. Global Jihad cells are known to be operating just south of Israel's border with Egypt.

Only Saturday, Egyptian security forces arrested a 17-year-old Alexandria
resident who told a taxi driver in Sinai that he intended to execute a suicide bombing in Israel.
This won't stop us from visiting Eilat.

    sick

al-Arabiya TV is reporting that it was Faisal al-Saksak, a 21-year-old resident of the Gaza Strip who committed today's mass-homicide in Eilat.

Mama is on al-Jaze'era TV next to pictures of her son saying how proud she is on her son's magnificent wedding day in paradise.

21 years old eh. What happened? Are the middle aged men who claim to be "freedom fighters" and who lead Hamas, al-Aqsa and the Islamic Jihad too afraid that they have to send a guy barely out of his teens? My my my..... how brave

Meanwhile, the duly and democratically elected government of the Palestinian people (Hamas) praised the mass murder of these tourists and declared: 'Attack is legitimate resistance' - heh

Didn't Omert just (or is about to) release $100 million to those who elected their "Internationally Designated Terrorist" government?

It won't stop those who have special connecions with Israel, but an impartial tourist looking for sun may be deterred.

Almost two years ago Islamo-terrorists killed about 88 people (about a third were Europeans) at the Egyptian resort of Sharm al-Sheikh.

Some 200 more were injured, maimed, disfigured or crippled in the overnight blasts. (the first, in the Old Market, was followed by two more in Naama Bay, where a hotel was badly hit).

Egypt's $9 billion tourism industry (25 percent of GDP and the second largest employer) took a massive hit.

It took awhile, but Egyptian police and authorities hunted down or killed the terrorists and bent over backwards to prove to the global tourism industry that it had resolved its security issues. Tourism at Sharm al-Sheikh has returned to previous levels.

I'm sure Eilat will do likewise and do just fine.

    ^_^

Very sad, Israel is paying to get bombed. When they run out of money for bombs, Olmert will give them some more cash.

Why not make it even more easier for them? Why make the Pals go through all the trouble of buying and making bombs. Instead of money, Olmert could just give them weapons and bombs that are ready to use. Poor Pals who need to smuggle weapons from Egypt and other places.

Ugh Olmert, be merciful and just give them high-tech Israeli weapons already. We know you want to.

Peretz' directive to resume operations inside Gaza is of questionable merit, value and judgment. If this attack was meant to distract everyone from noticing that Palestinians are murdering each other at about 10x the rate they were suffering when fighting Israel, than sending the troops back to Gaza is a patently stupid move.
