Thumbs down Syrian Conditions for Lebanon.....

Here are the new conditions, put before Lebanese - by Syria - to end political strife in Lebanon:

The conditions set by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime, according to Abu Faour (of PSP- Party), are:

    1) the formation of a new 30-seat government in which the Hizbullah-led opposition controls 11 seats, allowing it to veto decisions.

    -------uh, didn't I state that they wanted 1/3 + 1?-------------------

    2) the adoption of a new elections law in three months.

-------of course, they want to LOCK the voters in...this does NOT mean improve it, but to increase the lack of freedom in voting. THEY REFORMED THE ELECTORAL LAWS 5 TIMES, but we still won last time...so they want to see it re-done to their advantage again. And, after this is done, they want the new elections....hmmmmm? I bet you 10-1, that citizens outside Lebanon still will not be able to vote absentee. ----------------------------

    3) early parliamentary elections in six months.

-------Only when they loose, they want a new election. When they win, then is was a fair election. But wait????new election laws in 3 months, new elections in 6. --------------------------------------

    4) rejection of early presidential elections.
-------Of course, they would still want Lahoud, the pro-syrian puppet. And when his time comes up, they will find a way to keep him, & BUMP AOUN....but Aounies, think that'll never happen------------------------

    5) rejection of any attempt to form an international tribunal to try suspects in the 2005 assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri and related crimes prior to completion of the international investigation in these atrocities.
-------Now, why do you think SYRIA of all countries would want this?-------

Go Aoun and Hezbollah, these are your demands to BRING THE PEOPLE OF LEBANON DOWN! THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE FIGHTING FOR! THIS IS YOUR PROTEST! THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT! YOU stupid, stupid...little people.

Ya I BE SHOOM....(Shame on YOU ALL)!

    Re

Very interesting indeed. It sheds light on what is less known worldwide. How many interviews and TV commentaries are dedicated to this topic?
With that in mind, how can anyone explain the Lebanese fear of Israel, which is much more then of Syria?

    orangeblossom,

The Peace Think Tank section is for specific peace initiatives between Israel and the Arabs.

Your posts are probably better off in the 'In the News' section or in some other section.

Each section of the forum is explained on the front page of the forum:

    Thanks.

One thing to keep in mind is that Syria considers Lebanon to be a part of Syria -- not an independent country.

So, it's not surprising that Syria is dictating conditions for it to stop trying to bring down the current Lebanese government.

The lebanese do not fear Israel. To be honest, MOST are very tired of it all.

The people you refer to are the ones in the South....HA's people. They are so screwy and fundamental, that it is sad. They are a collective group of people. But, hey, I have an uncle that hates Israel, because he got hurt from them during the time they entered Lebanon. And I am sure that you will always have that relative who will hate Lebanon. It is the way it goes. But that uncle of mine represents only 1 out of a family of about 40. So, I hope you get my point on it.

Our main problem today, is not over Israel so much, but Syria, Iran, HA and the opposition. The cherry on the cake, was Israel bombing Lebanon (EVEN THOUGH WE KNOW IT TO BE STRATEGIC HITS)...[not yelling, just highlighting]. To be honest....it was not what we needed at the time, we were trying to implement Sanoria's 7 point plan to disarm HA. We never got the chance to.

Let me explain to you the Lebanese mentality today. Right now, no matter what sect, we are a war generation. We will all die for the 'causes.' Lebanon is split into two: Pro-West and Pro-Syria. The divide goes like this: Druze, Sunnis, 90% of Christians are number 1. Shias of the south (HA) and 10% of Christian number 2. Those Chrisitan who are pro-Syria are usually the ones who prefer Assads regieme.

If we are not afraid of HA, as demonstrated in their last street protest, then why would we be afraid of Israel?

Here is a good example of a Sunni Lebanese:

    View the clip #1364.

Nasrallah is seriously thinking what he will be facing if he starts a war in Lebanon. Even the old HA leader is informing the shia of the south, that "they will be slaughtered like sheep."

So, with Israel...we do not 'fear' it, we are getting tired of the whole situation. Majority people in Lebanon are not like the pals. We just want to live a life.

But, the one major problem between our two countries...is how to deal with the Pals. The Lebanese DO NOT want them. They want them out. Frankly, they are sick of them as well.
