Mitt Romney, blood libel, and that old time Jew hate

Not altogether sure if this belongs in here as Romney & Co. may just be a tad naive rather than an up and coming anti-Semite. However....

Mitt Romney, blood libel, and that old time Jew hate
    By Bradley Burston

It may just be a bad dream. Or it may be the future.

In the space of a week, we have had a professor from an Orthodox-oriented Israeli university argue that some medieval blood libels against the Jews were based in fact.

We have had Muslim clerics declaring that the Jewish Temples of antiquity never existed, that there is no evidence that they ever did, that the Jews' insistence that they did was "the greatest fraud crime in history," that the Western Wall is a Muslim site, that the Jews' reverence for it - and for Jerusalem - is a relatively recent and politically-motivated phenomenon.

And now we have Mitt Romney.

On Tuesday, the former governor of Massachusetts is set to formally launch his campaign for the Republican nomination for the presidency.

He has chosen as the venue a museum which bills itself as America's Greatest History Attraction, the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.

Bradley Burston is a clear example that one can be an outright moron and still possess impressive writing talents. And indeed the ability to produce clear and concise writing seems to be the only talent he has. His analytical abilities or even simple-to-goodness honesty are by far superseeded by those of a gnat.

In addendum, probably about a 6th of Israeli drivers drive a Ford-made vehicle, either a Ford Focus (or as the locals tend to say it -- "Fock us"), or some Mazda. Knesset Members are given a Mazda 3, I believe, for personal use. But I'll leave it to the likes of Burston and the National Jewish Dimwit Council that he mentioned in his piece to start making a noise about this.

Big over reaction no doubt, but starting a campaign at the HF Museum in Dearborn may not have been the smartest move on his team's part.

Romney's whole campaign is dumb. He hasn't lived in Michigan since he was a child. Isn't what the hateradio morons said about Hillary Clinton running in NY?

Maybe. Sorry, but Hillary filling an empty spot in New York was nothing short of random. And the U.S. would be a better country without her being involved in politics.

But that wasn't really what Burston was talking about. In fact, if you read his blog, which I do on occasion, it is a vile anti-Israeli claptrap with some pretense at intellectualism. More or less it all boils down to the constant "Israel needs more Arabs", "we need to give Palestinians anything they ask for", "anyone who says anything about Arabs is racist", "IDF is evil", and so on and so forth. Futhermore, if you ever post any talkback that fairly criticises his point of view and gives off a positive Israeli-right-wing message, like Jewish unity, working together to achieve our national goals and get a recognized permanent hold of our land, and such, they won't publish it. But if something is posted by outright rightwing lunatics or anti-Zionists or European anti-Semites, they give it a green light. Just check out his web site, or do a little experiment. Try to post a talkback explaining that this conflict is about land, not race. One may get through, but never more than that, and you'll drown in the proverbial sea of loonie left and anti-Semitic hatred.

How a mainstream newspaper can allow itself to become nothing short of a propagandist mouthpiece that constantly denigrates its country is beyond me. Only in Israel, I guess.

P.S. In all honesty, I don't know much about Romney, except that he is a moderate conservative, and is considered a RINO (Republican In Name Only) by some. So my whole impression of this situation is that somebody criticises him for making a campaign appearance at one of U.S.'s biggest museums, if not the biggest one. Would they be criticising Joe Lieberman if he done that? Or would you say that he would've likely refused to speak at the Ford Museum?

Is Haaretz a bit of a tabloid sensationalist rag?

Well, it is better designed and better written, at least in English, than any other Israeli news site. I would say propagandist with a very clear political agenda, rather than sensationalist. No?

And who exactly the hell are you to tell me what I'm allowed to be offended at? Just because you and he are craven far right wing end of times wingnuts doesn't mean I have to be. Maybe if you actually ever came in contact with any Jews you'd know that we really don't appreciate being lectured by you or your Mormon superman from the steps of Henry Ford museum.

Let's face it, you'd support a nazi if he was a member of the Republican party and slightly to the right of Genghis Khan.

    You talking to me???

Where the hell do you come with this stuff? As you should well know I'm a Jew, currently living in Israel. But funny stuff, especially from someone who seems to support Hillary.

Wait a minute< how is Mitt Romney an anti-Semite? I don't approve of his Christian Righted winged lunatic campaign but I don't think you can go on and call him anti-Semetic. He's probably at the Henry Ford Muesuem because his fathers automotive background, not because Henry Ford was an anti-Semite. Or like you said, maybe he is an anti-Semite, I just don't like to judge right away.

Henry is dead, but the company he built is an American industrial icon, so the venue was chosen with an eye towards popular perception in the Rust Belt.

    Not everything is about Jews.

It is ultra left-wing and Kettle's right it has a clear agenda. They are also anti-religious (Christian, Jewish, but not Muslim), like most of the left wing "peace" camp.

This trying to label Mitt Romney as an anti-Semite b/c he spoke at the Ford museum is just ridiculous. I wouldn't vote for the guy b/c I have my heart set on Giuliani but seriously, he is getting a bum rap here.
