719 immigrants coming this week

The Jewish Agency reports that 719 immigrants are expected to arrive in Israel this week, including 157 from France, 126 from Russia, 111 from Argentina, 105 from the Ukraine, 97 from the Central Asian republics of the Former Soviet Union and the southern Caucasus, 47 from the USA, 25 from Ethiopia, 14 from the UK, and the remainder from South Africa, Brazil, Uruguay and India.

Is there any data on the background of the French immigrants availiable? (Original location, Ashkenazi/Sephardic background, professional/income groups etc.) All the Jewish agency offers on its homepage is this: http://www.jafi.org.il/aliyah/aliyah/clock/table.html - not exactly comprehensive.

The figure is somewhat of a surprise to me, since, according to my own sources, the immigration from France has been rather weak so far.

What is the total number of the French olim since the beginning of this year?

I don't have precise statistics, but I am very involved in the french community in Israel, and I was responsible in the biggest youth movements and studient associations in Paris before my Alyah 4 years ago.

There are multiple backgrounds, I can tell that I don't know 2 frenchs who came for the exact same reason. French medias are very agresive against Israel, and there are around 8 million arabs in francs for 600.000 jews... French medias are mixing many basic concept... They talk about "Jew killing Arabs" instead of Israeli killing palestinians. They never call the terrorists, but "militants" or "resistance". It's very hard to be Jew in France today if you don't hide your love for Israel.

Immigration from France was never weak, it's several thousand people every year, France is the second diaspora community after USA, Jewish movements are very active in France... But they are very busy fighting antisemitism while the state is hiding the terrible situation.

...and so another French company profits off of the transport of Jews. The French courts say is ok, legal and no harm done. The legal argument that the company was forced to do it falls on deaf ears considering they over-billed the government and received a tidy profit for sending Jews to their deaths.

Those who refused faced being shot? Maybe so. However, in typical French fashion, they not only bent over for their fascist oppressors, they gladly took the money the Nazis left on their bedstand after they were done.
