    Palestinians Bomb Hebrew University

Just announced. Live pictures are coming out of Jerusalem, where apparently a Palestinian terrorist detonated a bag full of explosives in the cafeteria of Hebrew University.

As of now, 10 dead, 70 wounded, and I expect these numbers to rise.

More updates should be coming in soon. Feel free to add.

This article (updated 15 minutes ago at 17:44 Israeli time) says seven dead, eighty-six injured with fourteen of those injured seriously. Hamas has taken responsibility, and it is in "retaliation" for the killing of Shehada. The campus is adjacent to the West Bank and infiltrations from a nearby village would be easy. This was an explosive device planted in the cafeteria, not a suicide bomber.

    Jackson cancels meeting with Yassin

Due to Hamas taking responsibility for this bombing, Jesse Jackson has cancelled his planned meeting with Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. (Why it took yet another bombing to make him do this, after the dozens of others, I don't know.)

    This is plain unbelievable.
I was ending a post on my blog, about to leave my lab and head to that exact building (Frank Sinatra) where all the managment is, in order to get a new student ID instead the one I lost, and just before I left my girlfriend called me to tell me there was an explosion. Then I had to answer the million and one phone calls and tell everybody I'm ok.

Also collected a few pics from other sites just to show people the horror.

    ing unbelievable!

Regardless of the details, an attack like this proves that the Palestinian cause is unjust.

If Palestinians sought justice, they would not spread injustice. The fact that they do shows what their real intentions are. It is not to right a supposed wrong, but to pretend that the decades-old Arab dream of destroying Israel is merely an understandable response to the F-16 attack that killed the evil Hamas leader, Shehada.

It should also be noted that these attacks are purposely aimed at the most innocent. Perhaps someone like Philip would claim that Israeli college students are guilty of "oppressing" Palestinians.

But the rest of us know that the reason for choosing this target was precisely because it is senseless and horrific. The purpose of Palestinian terrorism is to terrorize Israelis and anyone who lives or works among them -- not to persuade Israel to end "injustice." (There are reports that some foreign students were among the casualties.)

My sincere condolensces to the people of Israel. We in India are quite familiar with these sights.

I sincerely hope that the day is not far when a jew in Israel can live without the daily fear of being slaughtered in his own land.

Just for the record, unless already mentioned:

Another attack has taken place today where a Muslim Lebanese man shot up an Educational Institute in Lebanon, targeting, guess who? Christians. I wonder how truely interconnected the terrorist organzations are, when 2 schools on the same day are attacked and the victims all happen to be Non-Muslim.

Is it true that there is a strong contingent of leftward leaning Palistinian sympathetic people and groups in universities in Is. just like there is here in US? If so Hamas &co. may have finally alienated the only people in Israel in a postion to support or advocate their cause or the cause of 'peace'.

I doubt that there are many Israeli leftists who support the cause of Hamas, which is AFAIK quite officially the complete destruction of Israel and the subjugation of those Jews who will be fortunate enough to survive and stay under a Muslim rule. I have never heard that Hamas itself has ever displayed any interest in the typical "leftist" agenda. They are IMO much more likely to try to provoke an all-out war, hoping that this would bring more Palestinians on their side. Alienating and weakening the Israeli left wing would serve their cause just fine.

MSNBC and CNN currently both have headlines that focus on the American killed in this explosion.

I wish was wrong but I fully expected this to happen. On Sunday night I read a report saying that curfews were being shortened, and more Pals were being let in to work and overall their conditions would be eased. Of course just the opposite needed to be done. I sound like a broken record but Israel still doesnt this conflict for what it is a total war between societies.

My condolences for anyone that may read this and has lost a loved one or someone close in this latest attack. My sincerest sympathy to anyone that was injured in this latest attack.

I may very well be ignorant but what difference does it make who takes credit for the attack?

Hamas is just a name and in reality it seems to me like all the radical Islamic terrorist organizations are interconnected for one common purpose being mainly to kill Jews.

My mother was in the university this morning on class. She left just before the bomb exploded.
I was worried sick about her...

I'm getting tired.... when will the madness be over???
