A couple of days ago, JPost reported on a finding from SAWA that:

This is incredible. I thought Palestinians of all people, with a much larger exposure to Western culture would be among the first to abandon this sort of barbarism.
What sort of culture compels men to kill their own daughter, sister, mother, wife - for the sake of "Honor"?
But nope, aparently the barbarism can't be abandon, even in the West. Police across Europe report that Muslim honor killings have increased significantly on the Continent, and only now do they recognize the phenomenon.
AFP reports that Britain has provided leadership on this issue and that the killings may be more numerous than any of the nations presume:

Aparently, EUtopians have allowed its Muslim communities to become insular. Recently articles from Germany note that Muslims have brought with them their customs and traditions. Among the less noble of these are sharia laws that reduce women to commodities in Islamist communities.
Their families force them into marriages at young ages, and when they resist, the women wind up beaten, raped, or worse. In some cases, women become the vessel through which clans receive punishment, like Mukhtar Mai's gang-rape in Pakistan.
When Europe experienced Muslim migration in asnwer to its chronic shortage of cheap labor as well as the inevitable result of its colonial history, the Losing Left whines against efforts to get the new migrants to assimilate into Western culture.
The result? especially in the most Socialists of these countries, are Muslim communities with little loyalty to their countries and almost no connection to the laws and norms of traditional European society and justice. European leadership has remained so clueless that they can't even know for sure that honor killings and rapes have increased -- just that they have learned to distinguish them better.
This is a critical lesson for countries like the US, Canada, Australia and other Western nations that take in large amounts of immigrants. Allowing segregated societies to flourish especially by providing services in multiple languages as the norm only creates interest groups with less connection to the central society.
In the extreme, it means that local governments cannot conduct their basic "raison d'etre" -- the protection of its most vulnerable citizens (women, children and the handicap).

Oh why not? Why should we post anything else? There are 6666 verses in the Quran and around a hundred thousand ahadith of various levels of importance and quality of provinence. But why don't we just take ten or fifteen of those out of context and characterize all 1.3 billion adherrents of a religion by those? Much larger than who? Pakistan is the very center of extremism embodied by the deobandis/Taliban.
One of the links below states that one fifth of the world's 5000 annual honor killings takes place in Pakistan. Another that 1400+ women in the northern province of Sindh in India were honor killings. That makes up almost half of all the honor killings in the world.

Delhi court has framed murder charges against a man for killing his married daughter last year after allegedly being enraged over her elopement with a boy.

In Sindh last year, in 2005, more than 3000 women killed in the incidents of the different kinds of violence. According to data released by an NGO in Sindh, 1457 women killed in the name of honor killing and 110 cases in which the man associated with the accused woman was also killed.

From the standpoint of Western law, what difference does it make what the motive is? Is an honor killing by a Muslim MORE deadly, MORE illegal than the murder of a family member of a non-Muslim? The Muslim world looked too serous so I wanted to see how they humour themselves:

A MOROCCAN court has sentenced two journalists who published a list of popular jokes about Islam, sex and politics to suspended three-year jail terms and banned their magazine for two months.
Editors and journalists at Nichane, which means “As it isâ€, had feared the worst when the state prosecutor said last week the magazine should be banned for good and the two journalists jailed for up to five years and forbidden from practising journalism.
But the Casablanca court's presiding judge, Noureddine Ghassin, handed down a lighter sentence. As well as the two-month ban, he fined Nichane 80,000 Moroccan dirhams ($12,000).
