    Israeli Strike on Palestinian School?

    Israeli Strike on Palestinian School?

As Israel's military action continues in Gaza, one event is sure to be discussed for some time to come: An Israeli air strike near a United Nations-run school for Palestinian children. Though we do not yet know the exact number of casualties, it is possible that it is around thirty. Initially, the details of the event were sketchy, but as time passes, we now know more about this tragic – but entirely avoidable situation. Here are the details:

On January 6th, 2009, the IDF was in the midst of a military operation to stop the barrage of rockets fired by Hamas from Gaza into Israeli cities. After a decade of Hamas firing rockets into Israeli cities and years of Israeli demands that Hamas stop firing those rockets into Jewish homes, schools, and temples, Hamas refused to stop. By Christmas day, 2008, Hamas refused to renew a six-month cease-fire, and instead decided to fire 80 rockets into Israeli cities—per day, prompting Israel to begin its military operation to stop Hamas and to protect the lives of Israeli citizens. These facts are undisputed by the international community.

So far, ten days of fierce fighting ensued, in which the Israeli army destroyed a sizable amount of Hamas weapons sent by Iran, and also killed a large number of Hamas guerillas who were conducting a war right from the middle of densely populated areas of Gaza. Upon arrival in Gaza, the Israeli army found that Hamas had turned mosques into weapons depots, and homes into entrances leading to a vast underground tunnel system designed for weapons smuggling, storage, and holding of kidnapped individuals. While the IDF used advanced precision weapons to fight Hamas terrorists, unfortunately, innocent (and not so innocent) bystanders were also hurt.

On the ninth day of the Gaza battles, Hamas continued to fire rockets into Israeli cities, and the Associate Press reported that “One of the rockets struck a large outdoor market that was closed at the time in the town of Sderot, just across Gaza's northeastern border. Another hit a kindergarten in the coastal city of Ashdod, north of the strip. The kindergarten, like schools across southern Israel, was closed and empty because of the rocket threat.”

Reports of the Hamas rocket hitting the Israeli kindergarten went largely unreported around the world, perhaps because there were very luckily no casualties. However, when Israel fired back at Hamas militants hiding in a Palestinian school, there were casualties and some of the widest press coverage to date.

    What Really Happened?

Palestinian terrorists often use schools and hospitals as weapons depots, military command centers, and launching pads for shooting rockets into Israel. Tuesday morning, January 6th, was no different. Palestinian militants used the UN-run school to fire at Israeli soldiers. Among the Muslim terrorists using the UN facilities at the time were Hamas chiefs Imad and Hassan Abu-Iscar, together with a rocket launching cell of Hamas. On the same day, a second UN-run Palestinian school was also targeted by the IDF after coming under fire from Hamas terrorists. Apparently, Hamas made a cynical policy decision to cause the death of dozens of Palestinians to score a PR victory against Israel.

Yes, one can expect the Arab world and its Leftist apologists in places with large Muslim populations like European cities and Dearborn, Michigan to complain about the Israeli actions, as proof that “The Jews” are targeting Muslim civilians. That of course, is a complete lie. In fact, it is the Islamic terrorist group Hamas that sealed those poor citizens’ fate by causing their death.

No doubt, it is a tragedy when innocent civilians die, whether Jewish or Muslim. No child should have to pay the price for Muslim terrorism. But, certainly this time, the blame lies squarely with Hamas, not the IDF.

The UN’s Responsibility for the Death of the Palestinians

There is another party to this tragedy, as well – the UN. This once-great organization has remained silent as Jewish children were targeted by upwards of 5,000 Hamas rockets. Not a single demonstration was ever held to protest the Muslim terrorist group’s decade-long onslaught on Israeli homes and schools. No UN action of any sort was ever taken. This silence led to the current fighting and to the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians.

More so than the silence itself, the UN has a long history of providing infrastructure, support, and funding to various Muslim terrorist groups, like Hamas and Hezbullah. Most of the UN’s terrorist ties go unreported, but among the more notable ties to terrorism is an incident where UNRWA chief Peter Hansen was caught having Hamas members directly on the UN payroll, where the UN observers in Lebanon allowed Hezbullah to use their positions to fire into Israeli cities, and today, the UN allowed Hamas to use its schools to launch rockets into Israel and target IDF soldiers.

The Israeli government is now considering placing a formal complaint against the UN.

    Yet Again . . .

Attached below is a video that the IDF released, depicting mortar rounds being launched from another UN-sponsored school back in October 2007.

This practice is nothing new - nor is it new that the general media totally ignores this and other examples of Hamas using Gaza's civilian population and UN sites as human shields.

I don't understand why anyone pays attention to this arm flapping media hysteria demonstration. The facts are plain. Rockets and mortars are being fired from Gaza. Israelis fire back in a reverse trajectory mode and their round explodes by a school. This was hamas's intent to make that return fire a media event. Hamas knows that Israel has the capability to return fire by using incoming rounds trajectory and using that as a return fire aiming point. That was even suggested by palestinian reps on TV 2 days ago. They said that if Israel just fired back to spots they were fired on from, then everything would be aimed at hamas and not civilians. Killing civilians was what was intended by hamas....the blood is on their hands. According to the koran, a muz that kills an innocent is banned from paradise. I hope they are merrily burning in hell.
Rock on Israel! Don't stop until they beg on their knees!

I had started a separate thread with this, and I sadly don't know how to delete it. (Mods, please feel free to do so) It seems the following fits nicely right here.
The UN: Thoroughly infiltrated and taken over by Muslims at every level
By Editor Monday, January 5, 2009

It is hard to think of an organization that has been more thoroughly infiltrated and taken over by Muslims at every level, than the United Nations. It has for decades been filled with such willing collaborators as Edward Mortimer, the former Chief Speech Writer and Senior Adviser, as he billed himself, to Kofi Annan—and for all I know, perhaps he’s still senior-advising and chief-speech-writing for that Innocent Abroad Ban-Ki Moon, especially when it comes to Muslim matters.

This infiltration can be seen everywhere, from the actual staffing of the U.N. secretariat, to the power of the Islamic bloc, which is the last sizable voting bloc left now that the Soviet bloc has dissolved. What should be the bloc of enlightened democracies has lost its way—not least because of the effect of the anti-Israel atmosphere with which the United Nations is suffused, and the atmosphere of apologetics for Islam with which it is also suffused. And then of course there are those Western countries whose elites are terrified of offending the aggressive and dangerous Muslims who are now living in their very midst, and about which they have not a clue as to what to do. At the United Nations, Islam, or the Organization of the Islamic Conference, practically calls the tune.

Why, almost half the time of the U.N. and its succursales, such as that comic organization supposedly devoted to Human Rights in Geneva, is dedicated to the proposition that Mighty Israel, the vast Empire of Israel, is the single most important topic, and of course threat, in the world today. The Geneva Human Rights council is that one whose deliberations are sometimes interrupted by the voices of steady sanity of David Littman and Roy Brown, and a few others like them. But even there the Muslim delegates have so intimidated all the others, with their aggression and their sheer craziness, that even the most intelligent representatives of Western Europe shrink from confrontation with the primitive representatives of primitive peoples, made primitive, it must be said, by Islam itself.

Madeline, it pretty obvious that the world runs on oil and the UN reps are crooked as a dogs hind leg. Anan and his little cabal were all about skimming money on Iraq when Saddam was still in power....there's the story. Money, power and oil. If the muz oil barons can buy the UN then they can exercise the political power represented by their terrorist goon squads with impunity. Notice how all those arab dignitaries avoided acknowledging that hamas had been firing rockets and mortars into Israel and all they wanted to talk about was Israeli aggression and civilian suffering. Nobody wanted to talk about all those munitions that hamas had came down tunnels that could have been bringing food, fuel and medicine purchased with all the money spent on bullets and bombs. The UN is nothing but toadies sucking up to oil money. I'd love to see the US bow out of the UN, withdraw all support and tell the UN to remove to France or Saudi Arabia or someplace. It's all BS. I'm totally sick of it, just like I'm totally sick of muz lies and half truths.

I'm about at the point where I think both Israel & the US, Britain, Australia and Canada should tell the UN to pound sand then take our toys, our skills & energy and our money and go start our own club. The UN is as valuable to the advanced, legitimate democratic republics as teats are to a boar hog.

Agreed. The UN is simply an anti-American, anti-Semitic organization that only serves to protect dictators like Hugo Chavez, Kim Jung Il, Vladimir Putin, and to perpetuate genocide in places like Rowanda, Darfur, etc.

It's insane that the US taxpayer is forced to foot the bill for the UN.

The UN??? Now you're talking about an entity that should be forced into the sea (harbor). If we did such a thing, we would be fined for causing irreparable harm to the waters off the East coast of the US. The scum ring would polute the beaches and waterways for decades.
