For our non-Hebrew speaking friends, that is not a "W" on that man's shirt, but the Hebrew letter "ש". This man may or may not be a Bush supporter!
"If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither, let my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy." (Ps. 137: 5-7)"
"Any generation in which the Temple is not built, it is as if it had been destroyed in their times" (Yerushalmi, Yoma 1a).
What is the significance of the Shin/Sin on the shirt?
Jeשcy uses the letter Shin in place of the W in their name to give it a Hebrew flavor.
Historically, the letter Shin refers to Shaddai, an ancient name for G-d in the Bible. It is commonly put as a decoration on mezuzot (containers of Hebrew scriptures put on the doorposts of our homes).
"If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither, let my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy." (Ps. 137: 5-7)"
