    Re: Indian Temples

I find it ironic that India has places like Khajuraho and yet you can get in trouble for kissing in public (i.e. Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty).

What caused your country to become so modest?
"If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither, let my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy." (Ps. 137: 5-7)"

"Any generation in which the Temple is not built, it is as if it had been destroyed in their times" (Yerushalmi, Yoma 1a).

    That's a old story.

Politicians and I also blame westernization.

In villages you can talk about sex and other stuff more freely than our cities.

Hijra "the third gender" we used to have great respect for them but now in cities we hate them. including me ...

This is a huge challenge for traditional societies and ancient civilizations. It's as poignant in India as it is in Israel really. Where the "west" stops everything else continues. Plus what version of "West" is the model, there are so many and they too are evolving. All said and done, do we all fall into the trap of Saudi or Iranian type reaction, or Chinese style cultural revolution before we find a balance point... don't know the answer but it is important for older cultures to consider their trajectory and then have a public debate about it.

lol. its not what you think .....

There is a girl watching behind the horse. From her looks i think she is thinking about her Man to be as strong and big as the horse.

I think dayag can explain it.

I've read that story and loved it. Such a terrific sense of humor. "A Consortium of Pub-going, Loose and Forward Women"- I still can't stop laughing

Great photos, too. Indian architecture is fascinating.

One of the places that I wanted to, but never traveled to, is India. I cracked up at #6, the guys in the Army posted some vids of an Iraqi nailing his donkey while they were watching through night-vision scopes. The temples are awesome! And the Kama Sutra in bas-relief.....nice. The temples all look so clean and tidy. Architecture is magnificent! Thanks for posting them, I'm very impressed.
