No dancing in public in Dubai

    http://www.zawya.com/story.cfm/sidAN...4T095049ZPCZ51
DUBAI, Mar 14, 2009 (AFP) - Playing loud music, dancing, nudity, kissing and even holding hands in public... is considered inapproppriate behaviour under new guidelines laid down by the authorities of Dubai, a report said Saturday.

Arabic-language daily Al Emarat Al-Youm said the Dubai Executive Council had urged residents of Dubai, where foreigners make up more than 80 percent of the population, to respect the customs of the Muslim majority country and avoid inappropriate behaviour.

The rules, which apply to all public places, include a ban on all forms of nudity, playing music loudly and dancing, exchange of kisses between men and women -- and even on unmarried couples holding hands.

Any breach of the guidelines, by nationals or expatriates, carries a possible prison penalty, the paper said.

The guidelines also stipulate that anyone caught under the influence of alcohol -- even small amounts -- outside designated drinking areas is liable to being fined or imprisoned, the paper added.

Dubai, a member of the seven-emirate United Arab Emirates, has a diverse culture as it is home to a foreign population made up mainly of low-skilled workers from Asia and Western professionals.

Unlike most of its neighbours in the conservative Gulf region, the emirate tolerates a relatively relaxed dress code and hosts dozens of hotels that have bars and clubs, where alcohol is legally served.

However, a series of incidents, including crackdowns on cross dressers and the expulsion of two British expats found guilty of having sex on the beach, has thrown into the limelight the sometimes clashing local and foreign cultures.

Nobody cares what they do there. Is it ok to change our rules in our country because of them.

    No.

In fact, their logic demonstrates that we should be tightening up those which preserve our way of life.

They want the UK to be an Islamic state
    http://www.thetrumpet.com/index.php?q=6031.4420.0.0

Muslim extremists on the streets of England are taunting British troops returning from Iraq with messages such as: “British soldiers … murderers … rapists … not heroes,” the Telegraph.co.uk reported yesterday. A Muslim preacher staged a demonstration in Luton as returning soldiers paraded through the British town after serving an exhausting tour of duty in Iraq. When locals reacted to the taunting by the Muslim group—which carried signs such as “Butchers of Basra,” “murderers” and “baby-killers”—police cordoned off the protesters—for their own protection. Moreover, since that demonstration, Muslim preachers have continued to spout their vilification of Britain’s soldiers on the streets of Luton. No effort, apparently, has been made on the part of authorities to stop them.

The Sunday Telegraph spoke to the protestors and reported that some

"were born in the UK to parents who came from countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Ghana. Others moved to the UK when they were babies or toddlers.

They were brought up and educated in England but, although many live on benefits, they admit their loyalty is not to this country but to Islam. They want the UK to be an Islamic state, with sharia law and women in burkas.

Abu Abdullah, 30, an IT consultant who came to Britain when he was 7, said he left school at 12 and began “Islamic studies.”

He said: “I live here not as a British citizen but as a Muslim living in Britain. I pay tax and I have the right to speak out, to argue for an alternative way of life.” …

This the fault of Israel's leaders, not the Arabs. They let them control our holiest place like dhimmis.

I think Codedvirus's point is that Dubai "pretends" to be a Western style country and open to everyone when it is obvious that it is anything but. I think some naive Westerners also believe in this fantasy.
