    Ha'aretz

Some days ago in Ha'aretz the columnist Yoel Marcus gave a great summary of the actual situation in Israel:

"we can argue about the fact if Ariel Sharon has a program,or even just has a clue to achieve peace and security in Israel.
But one thing is for sure: We find ourselves on the road to nowhere, or as the Americans say "we are deep in the ****".
Without the support of the US we will stay in it."

It seems that public opinion is getting tired of the military and unilateral position of Sharon, as it doesn't seem to be effective to achieve a better and more peacefull future for Israel.
this is the best news i heard from Israel in months.

Who cares about what an opinion piece in Israel's left-wing daily says? Next day the writer will have some other opinion and so on and so on.

What has this writer's track record been for having any concept of the mideast conflict? Less than stellar I bet.

Or did you just copy-and-paste a tiny little piece our of context without even knowing who the writer is?

I heard he's a regular and autoritive columnist of Ha'aretz and publisher. He will certainly speak for a part of the israeli population, and probably a growing part.

Yoel Marcus is a fine journalist with a long track record of extreme left-wing opinions, which is why he works for Israel's left-wing newspaper.

No Israeli government has been quite left-wing enough for Yoel Marcus, as he criticized both Labour and Likud PMs.

Haaretz is still top-notch for news coverage but its opinion columns and "analysis" pieces need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Nonetheless, they are good starting points for discussion and debate.

Yep, but the "analysis" pieces and columns of Daniel Pipes and co. need to be taken with a salt-mine.
I think Yoel Marcus is one of the most realistic columnists in Israel.

    Apparently not very realistic.

So far, his opinions and the left-wing agenda of giving away Jewish land to the Palestinians and hoping that the Palestinians will take even a few days' break from mass-murdering Jews, have been total failures.
